Not sure what to make of this one. I have to post this news with a caveat since I'm not too familiar with Think McFly but The Film Stage is always on the up and up, so we'll call this a rumor for now.

Apparently the WB Execs are really happy with early footage and the fan reaction to the Man of Steel thus far, so a gaggle of writers are on the list for potentially penning the sequel. It should be noted that David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Rises) is not on said list but that's not too surprising since director Zack Snyder felt the need to rewrite the final draft from Goyer. Hopefully, this early head start will mean that we'll be able to get a Superman sequel sooner rather than later. Of course this all depends on how successful Man of Steel turns out to be.

Man of Steel won't wrap shooting until next year and we won’t see the film until 2013 but Warner Bros. is already looking at the following writers for a Superman sequel:

-Steve Kloves (Akira, The Amazing Spider-Man, Harry Potter franchise)
-Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans, Pacific Rim)
-Lawrence Kasdan (Paradise Lost, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Empire Strikes Back)

That's a very interesting and talented trio Warner Bros. is reportedly looking at. I'm almost inclined to say that Warner Bros. can't miss although I'd have to say that Beacham is probably the weakest out of the three. That's not a knock on Beacham by any means, it's just that he's going against some steep competition (watch, he'll end up being the writer selected). Sound off below in the comments section with who gets your vote to direct the Man of Steel sequel!

Man of Steel is an upcoming American superhero film under the development of Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David S. Goyer. Based on the DC Comics character Superman, the film will be a reboot of the Superman film series. Using Chicago as a backdrop, and with production to be based in west suburban Plano, the film entered principal photography in August 2011, for a planned theatrical release on June 14, 2013 by Warner Bros., which also includes IMAX venues.

It'd be ironic if Kloves writes it (good choice though). Kasdan would be awesome, Raiders Of The Lost Ark is one of the best films ever.

@marvel72 I don't think WB is that dumb. :P Maybe dumb enough to hire them for GL2 and Flash, but I'd be surprised if they let them do MOS 2.

Travis Beacham all the way.
if you read any of his scripts(pacific rim) you would not call him the weakest

I have a feeling this is legit, Warner Bros. has been hiring writers for sequels as of late (Sherlock Holmes 3, Clash Of The Titans 3). Also, there was that recent report of WB wanting a MOS sequel before a Justice League film, so I wonder if that would tie into this.

@TheGoddamnSuperGuy

Crossing Fingers...

As much as I'm just "okay" with Zack Snyder's own written "Sucker Punch" it was very VERY poorly received by mostly everyone else (23% and 48%).

It doesn't help that the movie he wrote himself gets butchered, not to mention, Zack Snyder's already a joke when it comes to filming his action movie scenes.

I wouldn't be surprised if DC is really doing this because they do have a history of this (i.e. Green Lantern). I just hope it doesn't get fricked up. For the most part, I like what I see so far. I am very optimistic about this film.

MOS is very important not only for DC but for Superman. This film will have to put Superman back to his rightful spot as the #1 Superhero in the world. Can't continue to have Batman as #1 and this generation needs to know who Superman is.

I really want this to be good because I feel as though Cavill is THE perfect Superman and I want to see him play the role for many, many years to come.
