J.J. Abrams is busy putting the finishing touches on
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker but there's already a lot of speculation about what might come next for the filmmaker. After all, he recently struck a massive production deal with WarnerMedia and that means he has access to Warner Bros.' pantheon of DC Comics characters.
Once upon a time, Abrams was, of course, attached to a
Superman movie and it's fair to say that the vast majority of fans would like to see what he could do with the Man of Steel on the big screen.
When
Rolling Stone recently asked the director whether he could take charge of a
Superman movie, all he would say is
"We haven’t had those discussions yet." According to the site, he did so "not quite convincingly" and this is bound to help fuel the speculation that he is indeed planning on taking charge of the iconic hero's next film.
Whether that will involve Henry Cavill or be a reboot along the lines of
The Batman remains to be seen and there's obviously nothing to say Abrams will be involved with Superman as of right now.
Still, it's hard not to wonder what Abrams' take might look like!
If Henry Cavill doesn't play Superman again, who could take his place?

John Krasinski
John Krasinski made a name for himself in The Office before narrowly missing out on the role of Captain America. Since then, he's transformed himself for roles in 13 Hours and Amazon Prime's Jack Ryan, both of which proved that he has no problems taking on the role of classic American heroes.
At 38 years of age, Krasinski would obviously be playing an older, more experienced Superman and with Warner Bros. reportedly not looking to start production on the movie for several years, he could be aged out of the role by then. That's a shame, though, especially as he's a great fit for the hero.
