Just recently on Facebook Film Costume Designer and Special Effects Wiz Steve Johnson revealed some shockingly unseen Superman Costume designs from both Bryan Singer's Superman Returns and J.J. Abrams Reeinvention of Superman titled Superman Flyby. Posted here is one of Three Designs all of which can be viewed here on Steve Johnson's Official Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/stevejohnsonfx?v=wall

Steve Johnson Superman Returns Design:

How do you fellow comic book fans feel? Was this a better suit design in your opinion or is it falling short of the classic suit? Either way the color of blue and red are better then returns, but still returns had homage to the classic and to be fare in my opinion nothing beats the classic.

@crashrendar if you look at the two pics with the black background on the s shield, at the top in big letters is "FLYBY"

This is my favorite of them. If only the boots were red.

These are alright, but I think the suit from Earth One would be perfect for the new movie, trunks or no trunks.

Needs trunks and more yellow!

I like them, particularly the one up top. It has the right shades, keeps the belt, changes the shield to look more Kryptonian, and looks classic even without the trunks. Would mos def make a good movie suit.

patriautism@ Could you explain whats really different about the Earth One suit? I loved the story, but I dont really see the changes that Shane Davis made besides a very slight shield modification and making the tops of the boots a little different.

ROB @ Gr8 stuff dude! ; )

I liked the RETURNS costume tho, well apart from the no yellow 'S' shield on the back of the cape, it was cool!

Up tops cool too, but gotta agree with Deadpool on this one!

Maybe it's me or maybe its the Dean Cain-ish look, but i don't want a gay superman. and in these drawings he has definitely seen one up close.

@LEEE777 I agree but the Blue on the Returns Suit needs to be Darker, and the Red brighter, and a different material for the cape with the yellow S imprinted on it, like you said. But it's always nice to know what could've been.

I like the S, I like the colours, but I'm sick of people drawing Superman with a 28 inch waist! I also prefer the look with trunks. Otherwise it looks like he's wearing an 80s aerobics unitard! haha

"the color of blue and red are better than returns"

yet funny enough the blue in that design is DARKER. I don't understand the logic sometimes.

It says "FlyBy" thats the J.J. Abrams project, directed by Brett Ratner, cool design the problem is that the average people docent buy anymore the original suit so "everybody involved in the project" fear that they're not going to make any money with the silly-old suit, and this is the suit that Josh Hartnett - Brendan Fraser tried so it would be cool to see the picture taken for the cast process! one day

I like the traditional suit. It's been Clark's
Super-suit like forever! Why change it now?

It's iconic and kinda silly to change it after
all this time! Sometimes change is NOT good!

Crap. Crap. Crap.

I really like it. But the traditional suit should always have an appearance (cameo?). It is like James Bond movies. In most 007 movies there is always a scene which features Bond wearing a tuxido.

I guess this is one technique to satisfy all the fans. Or a transition producers can use to slowly re-orient fans to the new suit.

I'm all for the suit reboot, can'T stand the trunks

I have to say that this discussion has taken place many many times on this site and the result is always the same......THE ORIGINAL IS THE ONLY SUIT SUPERMAN SHOULD WEAR!!!!!!! I don't know why Hollywood feels the need to change things. Supermans suit and "S" on his chest are as iconic and historic as the HERO himself. I would bet you that 9 out of 10 teenage to 70 year old Americans if shown the "S" would know who it belongs to or what it is. Y change that? I dont understand the original is PERFECT there is NO reason to make any changes to it at all. Its not like his suit needs to be armor or help give him extra powers minus the fact in some of the comics they say it helps him to absorb sunlight but even still if that is the case in the movie there is still no reason to lose the trunks, yellow belt, or worst of all CHANGE THE "S"!!!! Snyder, Hollywood, whoever leave the greatest Superhero and most Iconic and recognizable figures in the world ALONE.

It's not so bad. A bit shiny, but that's not really a problem.
