Let's start with the Production Details:

Title: There hasn't been an official title yet. The film is currently being called Superman: The Man of Steel, the title of Bryan Singer's Superman sequel. There has been rumours of Superman Begins, Rise of Superman and simply Superman. There has also been rumours of the working title being "Last Son".
Director: Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch)
Producers: Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder and Thomas Tull
Writers: David Goyer and Christopher Nolan (Story) David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan (Screenplay)
Music By: No Composer has been attached yet. Tyler Bates is Snyder's frequent collaborator but nothing has been announced. Hans Zimmer, Exec. Producer Christopher Nolan's composer has expressed interest in composing but hasn't been approached yet.
Release Date: December 2012 (Between the 14th - 17th)
Budget: $175 million

Let's move onto the plot and story of the movie:

Clark Kent will be around 28 years old and a journalist just coming to Metropolis. He will be struggling with his feelings about his powers and how to use them, if he should at all. As a reporter he can see the world in despair but doesn't want to commit to helping the world and lose his own life as Clark Kent, a simple farm boy turned journalist.

Now onto the villains. It won't be General Zod and when early rumours surfaced about Brainiac being the villain, Warner Bros. had no comment which suggests that Brainiac coming to Earth for an unknown reason will be the plot, with scheming businessman Lex Luthor and Intergang making up the rest of the villains with the main focus on Brainiac.

Let's move onto filming details:

It will be filmed entirely in Vancouver except for scenes in other countries that can't be filmed in Canada. The city of Vancouver will double as Metropolis with help from a CGI enhancement much like the work done on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. The interior and studio shot scenes will be filmed at Vancouver Film Studios.

And finally onto the cast:

The casting of Superman will be an actor aged between 28 and 32 and an undiscovered talent who is either on TV or a completely unknown actor. Warner Bros. are currently employing Casting Directors who are requesting resumes and profiles to look over before open casting begins.

The rumoured names who are in contention for Lois Lane: Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Olivia Wilde, Natalie Portman and Rachel McAdams. Portman has ruled herself out however and Hathaway had no comment on the matter.

There has been several small time actors campaiging for roles in the film but these are highly unlikely to get a role in a major capacity.

@Knightstalker- I feel ur pain -_- I am praying to god almighty that THIS will be the first REAL Superman film. I hope Supes will fight and that Lex Luthor will stop being downgraded to an idiotic, land-grabber. There is a really pimp Lex in the comics all WB has to do is pick up a Superman comic for once and READ IT so they can finally give us the Superman film we want and deserve dammit.

As for Otis...ugh. That retard was the BIGGEST slap in the face to Superman-fans EVER.

What's wrong with the Man of Steel. I'm pretty sure that will be the official title.

SERIOUSLY Brandon Routh is the perfect superman. i dont think he should be changed. Lex Luthor was ok too. I just think that the movie needed more action and super powered foes. but if he must be changed, then i will go with that guy from the "Chuck" TV series Ryan McPartlin. He looks the part. Im still bitter he didnt get the captain america role.

The only way to make a quality Supes move (imho) is the use of Lex pulling the strings of a powerhouse that Supes can go toe to toe with in a series of fights (I'd love Brainiac). A Superman movie without Lex Luthor wouldn't work. Now...the TYPE of Lex Luthor is vital to the movie. Ignore what Hackman and Spacey did. Give me a megalomaniac scientist/businessman who is both jealous and offended at Superman. Just cut to the core of the character and all will be well.

Anyone with half a brain could plot out that Lex was legitimately on his way to being the best humanity had to offer and then along comes the alien. Lex gets jealous, masks his jealousy behind the idea that Superman offends the very nature of humans working for what they have (a very American idea) and viola. You've got a villain with a compelling and (arguably) justified reason for attacking our hero.

Everyone is so worried about what makes Superman tick in this modern age. I think that's a bunch of bunk. Give Supes a villain that audiences can get interested in and everyone in the theater will remember why Superman IS relevant.

Just to point a few things out. Whoever is complaining about the original Superman with Chris Reeve and Gene Hackman must not have been born until after the 80's. ANYONE who is a true Superman fan knows that was the best movie ever.

On to Superman Returns....WTF?! Bryan Singer must've had a serious mancrush on Richard Donner because Superman Returns was nothing more than a Donner wannabe film. Brandon Routh was trying to channel Chris Reeve and it didn't work. Kevin Spacey as Lex was not THAT impressive and why in the hell would they even introduce a child between Supes and Lois when everyone knows they can't have kids unless he's human?

Regarding this new movie. PLEASE do not bring back Routh or any of the cast from SR. Please DO NOT bring in anyone from Smallville. And whatever you do.....HAVE SOME.....Wait....Have A LOT of action. Bringing back anyone from SR will cause this movie to fail. While WB may have been happy with the money SR made worldwide, it still wasn't enough for true Superman fans to scream for a sequel. They (like myself) were screaming WTF?!

You guys want some advice? Go with the story from Superman Earth One and you're guaranteed to win and win BIG!
