SUPERMAN: LEGACY Star Edi Gathegi Is Looking Seriously Jacked Ahead Of Playing DCU's Mister Terrific

X-Men: First Class star Edi Gathegi is known for having a relatively slim physique, but the actor has bulked up in a big way for his role as Mister Terrific in DC Studios' upcoming Superman: Legacy...

We recently shared photos of Superman: Legacy's lead star, David Corenswet, looking incredibly jacked for his role as the DCU's Man of Steel. The actor's transformation is impressive, but Edi Gathegi's may well be even more shocking.

Trainer @paolomascitti, who has also been working with Corenswet, recently shared a photo of Gathegi looking positively massive. The X-Men: First Class star typically has a pretty slim build, but he's taking this role seriously and looks suitably buff to bring Mister Terrific to life on screen.

Superman: Legacy is expected to serve as the character's introduction before he takes on a bigger role in the new DCU moving forward. There are rumblings about a solo project or even Strange Adventures, meaning Gathegi will likely be key to DC Studios' future.

Mister Terrific, also known as Michael Holt, was created by writer John Ostrander and artist Tom Mandrake. Debuting in the pages of Spectre #54 in 1997, the hero is a highly intelligent and accomplished individual with expertise in various fields, including science, martial arts, and technology.

After a personal tragedy, he assumes the mantle of Mister Terrific, utilizing his intellect and the "T-Spheres," floating robotic devices, to aid him in crime fighting. Known for his exceptional skills, Holt eventually joins both the Justice Society of America and Justice League and is often celebrated for being one of the most intelligent and resourceful heroes in the DC Universe.

You can take a closer look at Gathegi's impressive Superman: Legacy physique in the image below.

David Corenswet is playing the Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan has been tapped to star as Lois Lane. Other recent casting additions include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

It's also been reported that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell may be in the running for Jor-El (there's no word on Ma and Pa Kent or whether they're even alive in this iteration of Clark Kent's story). Brainiac, meanwhile, is expected to serve as the reboot's big bad. With production set to begin early next year, we're hoping the final few cast members will be revealed imminently.

Superman: Legacy is currently set to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.

@TheyDont - I have zero issues with the LGBBQ, but when they made him gay, I was just like why? what's the reason? Its no reason. They made the black man gay for no reason.

@HammerLegFoot - "I have zero issues with the LGBBQ"

For someone with zero issues, you sure couldn't get to the end of the sentence without making fun.

Cool!!.

Looking forward to Gunn and Edi’s take on Mr.Terrific…

Always been a character I like that has felt underutilized outside of the comics.

Still pisses me off that his ability was to adapt to any situation that would keep him alive. Basically indestructible. This man became literal death to stay alive. And yet Kevin Bacon put a ball down his throat and killed him. That was my biggest issue with first class.

@HammerLegFoot - That scene also caused a lot of uproar racially.
You take one of the only black actors in the film and kill him off by becoming ashy. Not the best move.

@HammerLegFoot - Having the villain kill the indestructible character proves the villain's worth.

@MosquitoFarmer - Yeah, but when you save a character like that for last or near last, not at the beginning. You let a character like that kick some MAJOR ass, THEN you kill him off.

I am so glad they're introducing characters like Mr. Terrific and Guy Gardner on the big screen. Yeah, I worry about the film being overcrowded, but I have enough faith in Gunn to give the others solid roles and screentime but will make Superman the shining light of the film wi5h a lot of screen time (and hopefully more dialogue than the last few attempts).

@lazlodaytona - As good as Gunn is, based on the Guardians trilogy and The Suicide Squad, a Superman movie to me should be just that, a movie focused solely on him. But we'll see, hopefully he proves me wrong.

@Urubrodi - The Dick Donner Superman is still there if you want to see it. But if Superman exists in a world where there are superheroes, it sure would be strange if there were no superheroes in the movie.
Urubrodi

@ClintThaHamster - I disagree on that, even in comics we have plenty of stories that even though take place in a world full of superheores, focus on one hero in particular without the need to mention others. Like it's his first movie in the DCU and he's already gonna be sharing the screen with a whole football team.
lazlodaytona
lazlodaytona - 12/7/2023, 12:00 PM
@Urubrodi - I understand that for sure. That's the direction I would take too....plus having more of his rogues on the big-screen like Metallo, Parasite, and so on.

@Urubrodi - If this were the first Superman film in an already existing CU, yeah, I'd agree with you, 100%. But most of what are considered the "best" Superman stories involve other heroes. Unless they're doing the origin again (which we know they're not) having Supes interact with, or even be aware of, other heroes makes perfect sense. It'd be weird if they weren't there.

At any rate, I'm just excited to see what Gunn cooks up. I haven't been excited about a Superman movie since being let down by Singer's fiasco.
