We recently shared photos of Superman: Legacy's lead star, David Corenswet, looking incredibly jacked for his role as the DCU's Man of Steel. The actor's transformation is impressive, but Edi Gathegi's may well be even more shocking.
Trainer @paolomascitti, who has also been working with Corenswet, recently shared a photo of Gathegi looking positively massive. The X-Men: First Class star typically has a pretty slim build, but he's taking this role seriously and looks suitably buff to bring Mister Terrific to life on screen.
Superman: Legacy is expected to serve as the character's introduction before he takes on a bigger role in the new DCU moving forward. There are rumblings about a solo project or even Strange Adventures, meaning Gathegi will likely be key to DC Studios' future.
Mister Terrific, also known as Michael Holt, was created by writer John Ostrander and artist Tom Mandrake. Debuting in the pages of Spectre #54 in 1997, the hero is a highly intelligent and accomplished individual with expertise in various fields, including science, martial arts, and technology.
After a personal tragedy, he assumes the mantle of Mister Terrific, utilizing his intellect and the "T-Spheres," floating robotic devices, to aid him in crime fighting. Known for his exceptional skills, Holt eventually joins both the Justice Society of America and Justice League and is often celebrated for being one of the most intelligent and resourceful heroes in the DC Universe.
You can take a closer look at Gathegi's impressive Superman: Legacy physique in the image below.
David Corenswet is playing the Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan has been tapped to star as Lois Lane. Other recent casting additions include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
It's also been reported that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell may be in the running for Jor-El (there's no word on Ma and Pa Kent or whether they're even alive in this iteration of Clark Kent's story). Brainiac, meanwhile, is expected to serve as the reboot's big bad. With production set to begin early next year, we're hoping the final few cast members will be revealed imminently.
Superman: Legacy is currently set to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
