Well no undies is nice, the rest need some work here and there though. Not bad though I like the belt even though it serves no purpose

Miss the red shorts but I guess those can be classified as "Classic" Superman. It is time for something new. It is time for The Man of Steel to be on top of the world again.

^Yes!
I'd rather have the classic, as it breaks the colors up and provides balance, new has too much blue.

The third pic is THE best by far! Keep the original suit. I doubt WB is going to take a gamble and change that up, way to much controversy.

The "modern" suit has waaaay too much blue. Superman needs the underpants to separate the blue. The suit looks too damn plain without it. The belt should also be all yellow and the S shield needs to stay as the classic look similar to the Reeve's films, not the design from SR and none of that 3D b.s.

No matter how many times they redesign the suit, there will always seem like there's something missing. There's a reason why the classic suit lasted almost 100 years. So don't change it!

Top suit actually looks pretty good. The "S" shield needs to be bigger though.

As a huge Superman fan, I'm glad they're "attempting" to get red of the trunks. I hope this sticks.

I prefer the classic look. It's more Superman! Actually, Supes suit in Superman Return was very good. Just give more dark blue and we get new look of Superman.

Now i like the lower half, but the V-neck is just not meant for this kind of superhero. It looks way better with the classic look, but I can dig the no underwear part...

Okay in the back mirro, what I just wrote sounds incredibly gay, lol. Oh what the hell, if I were I would be all over Cavill, and you guys know you would be too! Am I right? I'm right!

They've divided and pissed off so many fans already with this shitfest that they won't change it because they already FEAR that this, ahem, "reboot" will fail. Besides, they don't have to change it, yet. After 2013, that's another story :D

SuperHOFF still doesn't have the look of Superman...maybe this will help ;P

Why does the suit have to change? A classic is just that a classic and doesn't need change for the sake of change. The first sign for me that Superman returns was the new look that Singer thought was necessary. This tells me that the director and production team care more about their own ideas than the character and his history.

Old costume's a must, hate the lack of red shorts, too much blue, the belt looks crappy, why does superman have a collar?!?! Like @docgl said, it's a classic, doesnt need to change.
Batman has an excuse, he needs protection from his suit since he has no powers. And as for the Spiderman suit, I'm not too keen on the new one either.

has dc explicitly said that supes undies are gone? bc to me in the pic it just looks like they're shaded

None of those look "real world-ish", and we all know if Zack Snyder has involvement that is what he is going for. Batman's suit had military applications and Superman's will more than likely be made to apply in the real world. Despite, the fact that it was tailored from his Kryptonian blanket (if that's how they play it.) Those all look other-worldly. If any, I like the third.

I think the best is definitely the first one. It looks modern, tactical and realistic.

razor@ - What they can do is make it like the cloth they use to construct the suit from should be armor, instead. Or a special kind of material that Supes grows into. I think that would be the best route. OR...

@Intruder- Agreed, it is just wishful fan-casting.

@juansuperiron- Dude, Billy Zane would make a much better Lex than Viggo. Besides, Snyder already stated that Viggo won't be in the film. Give it up dude.

The new suit boots are taller. They have Knee Pads. This is suppose to balance out the loss of red from the shorts by adding more to the legs. Still like the classic better IMHO.
TheLight
TheLight - 6/7/2011, 10:56 AM
It's not Superman. The knee pads? The high collar? That ugly "S"? And people think that this change is going to be a better shift for Supes? Why would he need knee pads?? Hail Classic, all the way. Without the trunks it'll look like a Spider-man suit with a cape.
LP4
LP4 - 6/7/2011, 1:44 PM
@LOGANXX35- Why don't you STFU and leave Smallville alone. Yeah Welling didn't wear the suit for real. But despite that I still say he wore it better in CGI than Routh did in the entire shitfest of a film- Superman Returns.

....YOU FOOLS OUT THERE THAT APOSTATIZED FROM THE TRUE FAN-DOME AND CARRY ON WITH IT HAVE GOT TO BE NO OLDER THAN 15 YEARS OLD.WANTING TO CHANGE THE MOST ORIGINAL SUPERHERO OF ALL TIME -- JUST GROW A PAIR AND STAY TRUE TO THE CHARACTER OR GO HUG ON THE XMEN OR ANY OTHER SUPERHEROES WITH LESS ORIGINALITY.

THE "V" TURTLENECK AND NO TRUNKS MAKE HIM LOOK MORE "EMO" AND "GAY" THAN EVERY OTHER ADULTERATION OF THE COSTUME THAN I HAVE EVER SEEN.

COLOR TONES CAN VARY BUT PLEASE LEAVE THE ESSENTIALS ALONE.

SO AGAIN....

YES TO THIS:

NO TO THAT:

Keep the faith, Naterator. Everyone that wants to change to suit into something it was never meant to be will likely be everyone on this site the day after the first pics are leaked complaining to high heaven about how bad it looks. Quit focusing on the suit, which doesn't need changing, updating, butt-raping, or anything else, and focus on a good story. That's what this next movie needs. Snyder and company have an enormous task on their hands. rebuild the Superman franchise on film or destroy it completely.
