Zack Snyder Says Nothing About the Superman Costume, Whether Clark or Superman is the Real Person and More

It's inevitable that Zack Snyder will be asked about Superman in whatever interview he does, and he usually gives up very little information. MTV should be commended, though, for getting him to say virtually nothing about it.

Nolan put a cape on his Batman which might actually be a bit of a hinderance. Remember The Incredibles?
So, classic suit but maybe updating the fabric with some textures and divisions.

I'm not a fan of the red undies either but he's had it for almost 75 years.
Its as much a part of his costume as his cape.
Don't mess with the classics.

Classic suit 100%. Just make it look like it's supposed to.

Just lose the outer boxer briefs. What is the big deal with that?

He DID say that it's "not on that scale." Could that not mean either that
a) it's more accurate than George Reeve's costume
OR
b) it's a lot more...erm...original (let's put it that way) than Cage's?

l0rdleg0las - 3/23/2011, 2:03 PM
i think the classic costume is dead. i am expecting not a drastic change in the suit, it will still be the same colors, the S will still be on the chest, but i say you can probably kiss the underwear goodbye. it will be something more realistic

I HAte haTE HaTe hAtE the red underwear on Supes, but agree that is as iconic as his cape and Shield. I wouldnt have a problem with him wearing them, and then decideing against them for whatever reason...

Classic costume all the way. Red undies and all. Yellow S shield on cape. Keep it classic.

Also, Superman is the costume. Clark is the real dude. He said as much on the last issue of PG.
theangrytroll
theangrytroll - 3/23/2011, 2:21 PM
DON'T change the costume. That includes leaving the red "undewear." Don't give in to the perpetual malcontents who hate EVERYTHING. Catering to them WON'T make them happy, and will only piss off the people who DO want to see a real SUPERMAN movie, not some imposter who usurps the name.
uvsk420
uvsk420 - 3/23/2011, 2:24 PM
why change it, it is his suit, it worked for the original show, the superman movies and the superboy in the 80's, lois and clark, and returns, besides its how most everyone thinks of supes, if they do change it, it will probly look like eradicaters from reign of the supermen story arc

LordHuck - 3/23/2011, 2:46 PM
@uvsk420. I like the Eradicators look. It needed boots..but it was really good.

No one is talking about changing the costume just for the heck of it. Just to be silly, Just for shits and giggles. Or Just cause.

They would change it so it doesn’t look like a grown man skipping around in a leotard with his underwear on the outside. So firmly convinced that his underwear needed to be on the outside that he has belted them in place.

They would change it so Superman/Cavil doesn’t look like an asshole.

CLASSIC SUIT ALL THE WAY! I don't mind the red undies. DC Universe Online has Superman in his Iconic Suit, and it looks "FANTASTIC!" Sorry, I had to quote Doctor Who...

DONT CHANGE THE COSTUME!!! KEEP IT HOW IT IS IN THE COMICS WITH THE YELLOW YES ON THE CAPE!!! ; )

JIM LEE'S DRAWING OF SUPES IS WHAT THEY SHOULD GO BY!!!
LordHuck
LordHuck - 3/23/2011, 3:02 PM
Jim Lee Drew Superman with impossible body proportions. With Forearms as wide as his head. Part of the reason the superman costume looks OK in the comics is often (but not always) because the frame filling it out is of inhuman stature. No one looks like that.

Photobucket

This picture looks [frick]ING AWESOME, but it is not a picture of a human being. The body proportions are grossly exaggerated. The suit is as tight as spray paint. No suit or actor will ever look like Jim Lee drew superman

I dont mind the red undies, it wont keep me from watchin the movie, but come on, it'd be nice 2 c some creativity taken into the suit!
Nice find man, if u got the chance though, check out my Green Lantern fan cast!

the red undies doesn't bother me. Snyder must maintain the originality of Superman, base of every super-human.

Bryanferryfan - 3/23/2011, 3:29 PM
WELL, WELL, WELL, is it me or does Snyder look extremely tired. He looks like he doesn't get much sleep. Anyways, I was sent an e-mail about the tone of one of my rants. Apparently Marvel72's feelings were hurt when I asailed him and his mother. I do apologize for my behavior. @MARVEL 72 sorry about quip about your mother. My bad.

uvsk420 - 3/23/2011, 3:57 PM
@bryanferryfan-dang kids today cant handle a your momma joke, he would have never made it past 86' almost every kid today would have not survived a childhood in the 80's, i can still feel my dads leather belt, not the one he wore the wide one that hung on the wall as a reminder not to **** up. Still when i got it, i deserved it

Tommy Lee Jones said it best in Men In Black, a person as an individual is smart, people (plural) are stupid. If you go changing up a an outfit that's been staple since depression era, don't go messing with it or your gonna confuse the masses. Like that cat pic a few posts back you're gonna get alotta people in the theater going Huh? Wha? It's been changed in comics too, everytime boomeranging back to the original. Singer was on the right track changing the texture of the suit more than the look.
Personally the only thing I would like to see Snyder's Superman abandon is the bumbling, goofy Clark Kent.

When polled 1000/1000 American males responded positively when asked if they would like to Fly around and shoot lasers out of their eyes.

These same men were not polled about wearing their underpants on the outside of their slacks, since none of the 1000 had chosen to do so the morning of the poll, the surveyors thought it would be a stupid question.

Briefs need to go man.
