"If this isn't the poster shot, someone's getting fired."
Netflix has released the first full trailer for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, which is set to premiere on August 5.
Serving as a feature-length continuation of the Nickelodeon animated series that ran for two seasons from 2018 to 2020, ROTTMNT begins with Casey Jones travelling back in time to warn the heroic brothers about a impending alien invasion from The Krangs.
The Turtles, along with Splinter and April O'Neill, prepare to face the imminent threat, but must do so without their magical abilities. As Leo points out, they still have a ninja's greatest weapon to work with: hope.
When TMNT fans got a first look at the Nickelodeon show, it's fair to say the animation style was not very well received. But over the course of its two-season run, Rise managed to win over most of the doubters with a funny, entertaining adventure that stayed (mostly) true to the original animated series (if not the significantly darker Mirage Studios comics).
