'Girder' Could've Looked Like A Transformer On THE FLASH

In the sixth episode of The Flash, titled "The Flash Is Born," Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) battled a meta-human ('Girder') with impenetrable skin, who also happened to be the person that bullied Barry in high school. Come see unused 'Girder' concept art.

In the episode "The Flash Is Born,"  Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) fought the steel-skinned supervillain known as 'Girder,' who was played by Greg Finley. It was a great episode and the highlight was when The Flash delivered a super-sonic punch to the face of his ex-bully. The 'Girder' resembled 'Colossus' from the X-Men films, but the meta-human could've looked much different. Concept artist, John Gallagher ("V"), has posted unused concept art he created for the character, which you can view below. Gallagher also described his thought process: "Playing around with the scrap metal found object aesthetic. The original Girder is a bit wonky looking but here was trying to bridge the original with a next gen look."
GREG FINLEY GUEST STARS AS DC COMICS’ VILLAIN GIRDER — The Flash (Grant Gustin) faces a new meta-human named Tony (guest star Greg Finley, “Star-Crossed,” “Secret Life of the American Teenager”), who can turn himself into girded steel at will. While Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) are concerned about Barry’s safety, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) comes up with a plan to take Tony down. Meanwhile, Iris’s (Candice Patton) blog on The Flash gets her into trouble, and Eddie (Rick Cosnett) witnesses Tony’s abilities firsthand and begins to ask questions that Joe (Jesse L. Martin) doesn’t want answered. Joe asks Dr. Wells to help him solve Nora Allen’s murder. Millicent Shelton directed the episode written by Jaime Paglia & Chris Rafferty (#106).

That actually doesn't look too bad but I'm not sure if they'd be able to pull that off on a TV budget.

Say what? Ultron looks like a Bayformer? TROLLOLOLOLOLOL!!

The concept art looks pretty sweet. Seems this fell prey to the same thing that happened to Rhino in TASM2 and the Ninja Turtles. Will never understand how these sweet concepts get pushed to the side for the sub par crap we end up with.

I bet CW couldn't afford that design so we got Collossus.

It really doesn't matter how villains look like, when they just get killed off after an episode. There won't be any Flash villains left by the end of the second season...

Or they could go all Flashpoint on us and change the timeline a little (Gustin said they'll have some elements from that comic in the show), but I doubt that.

They would never be able to create that in a million ideas.

Yeah, I wasn't exactly "impressed" by Girder's FX, but the character and story were good enough for me not to care. I liked the bully angle.

So a TV show can do Colossus, but the big budget X-Men film couldn't even come close to this? So sad.

This look is better, but my guess would have cost more in the special effects department.

@0megaDaGod

I understand how long it takes to render CGI but they do look similar, do he not? Just saying, the concept would have been cool. And I understand the design probably wouldn't fit in the budget.
