Grant Gustin Responds To "Controversy" Over Him Not Playing THE FLASH On The Big Screen

Many fans of The Flash's TV series are none too happy with Ezra Miller taking on the role of the big screen Scarlet Speedster, and after accusations that he's "bashing" the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star, Grant Gustin has taken to social media to set the record straight...

It's a shame, but we've known for a very long time now that the big and small screen DC Comics heroes don't exist in the same world. Things are even pretty complicated in this respect when it comes to what's on TV thanks to Arrow and The Flash taking place in a different world to Supergirl, so squeezing all of those characters into the reality of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Jutice would be a stretch. Still, there are plenty of people who aren't happy about this, and it's that which has led to the Tweet below. Social media being what it is, that's led to some unexpected controversy, and the whole situation is best explained by Grant Gustin in the message posted with the Tweet below.

It's interesting to hear The Flash star's thoughts on not playing the big screen version of The Fastest Man Alive, and a shame that some people made something out of nothing in regards to a few liked Tweets! For what it's worth, Miller has said he'd like both versions of the hero to meet up, so perhaps Gustin will get the chance to star in one of these movies after all. What do you think?

Ezra will be just fine. Grant is cool but weren't CBM users hating on him like they do with everything?

@MyloSteamwitz

Is it just me or does War Machine and Bruce Banner look different in Age of Ultron after watching Iron Man 1 and The Incredible Hulk?

Yeah, I'm still calling shit on DC not getting their shit together.

We have the PERFECT Flash in both portrayal and just all around great show and yet we're getting this rehash of a story we've seen already on TV with a shitty downgrade of a costume.

At first I was upset but now both universes have the freedom to use whatever characters they want... Except the suicide squad.. And the justice league... Besides that I'm excited to see what Ezra brings to the character but they need to give him the ears :(

Grant has made a very good point. Love watching him on the Flash.
As far as Miller, he sure doesn't look like the Barry Allen in the comics & looks Asian.
Why did they not select a natural blonde like Ryan Reynolds is beyond me but what I have heard, Ezra Miller is a fantastic actor and could pull it off as either a younger Barry Allen or better yet, Wally West. He will do just fine as the DCEU Flash. Can't wait!!!

I would have Grant Gustin over Ezra Miller as movie Flash any day of the week.I just don't want any of the supporting cast from the TV show,Apart from the guys who play Wells,Reverse Flash and Zoom they all pretty much suck.

You haven't read the script, seen Ezra's performance OR seen the god damn movie yet. So how would you know if it's a "rehash" or not?

Im glad they are not connected. We really ultimately get more if they develop them separately.

I like things that are different. Would be boring to see their television shows and movies mix. Now we have variety.

We got people condemning Ezra Miller and his Flash before they even see a single frame of footage.

Pure stupidity

While I love Grant's Flash and the Flash show, it's also canon to Arrow. To have Grant's Flash canon to the films means Arrow would have to be canon to the films and nobody wants that since Arrow sucks.

It's a shame but the best option.

Flash going from TV Budget to Movie Budget back and forth would be stupid as well.

You know what would be real nice?

If people had to pay 10 dollars per comment on any website.

That would drastically reduce the amount of hating and expressing of dumb opinions everywhere, for sure.

It's pretty hilarious when I see people say it's "unfair" to Grant Gustin that he doesn't get to play the Flash in the cinematic universe?

Really? Unfair?

The fact that he gets to play a superhero at ALL, let alone one of the most iconic superheroes out there is pretty damn awesome. And I think he'd agree with me too

@INSTANTJUSTICE

Of course he'd say that! He didn't know if the movie was gonna bomb and they had to re-reboot it! Not even Marvel had a plan beyond "Iron Man"!
