Kevin Smith Will Direct An Upcoming Episode Of THE FLASH

During today's TCA press tour, CW president Mark Pedowitz announced that director/actor/writer and comic book fan Kevin Smith will helm an episode of The Flash that's set to air this May. Is the date an indication that it could be the season 2 finale, perhaps? More past the jump...

It's just been announced at the Television Critics Association’s press tour that director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Mallrats The Walrus) will helm a future episode of The CW's The Flash. No other details were given, but his instalment of the incredibly popular small-screen take on DC's Fastest Man Alive is slated to air sometime in May.

Smith is a lifelong comic book fan, and has written for both DC and Marvel in the past. He's never directed a comic book movie, but has dabbled in the genre with the likes of Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back and he also appeared in the Daredevil film as a forensic assistant named Jack Kirby. Plus, let's not forget about his script for Tim Burton's defunct Superman Lives.

What do you guys think about this? Happy that Smith will be putting his stamp on the DC TV universe? The Flash returns Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

@glades7

I would have love to see that movie come to life......many people hate on Tim Burton but he really does revitalize old properties.

Batman and Charlie and Chocolate Factory are two examples.

And one of his latest movies.....Big Eyes really showed another side of Burton.

And one thing for sure he would have made Brainiac into something scary!

This is great. Just listen to Fatman on Batman, Kevin loves The Flash more than just about anything. Glad to hear. Also it's Tusk not "The Walrus"

This time people can't complain about the dialogue at all. If anyone can write dialogue its Smith.

I'd rather see another Batman commentary with him and Marc Bernardin.

As someone who doesn't even like the show, I like Kev enough to find this exciting, I think he would work well with Hamill's Trickster. Also, just played through Lego batman 3(I suggest you by those games if you have a girlfriend or..possibly boyfriend because they're fun as hell with a partner) and his cameos were all awesome and I just like the concept of him somehow being a DC character, so despite my feelings towards the show, more kev and DC, me likey.

Kevi Smith himself has said that he's not the best at directing big films, but I can definitely see him write the hell out of a Booster Gold and Blue Beetle movie

Kevin Smith, great. Before you know it, he'll be working with the crew of the show and will end up having a spat with them mid-way into making the episode, then will throw a tantrum about how they're not 'creative' and will storm off and ruin the show for a while.

There was a time where this may have excited me.

But Kevin is more of a pundit these days. I can't say I find his films exceptional in the directing department.

What Flash should do is get Lexi Alexander to direct a few episodes. Action!

Great news! He's passionate about the Flash and also a great screenwriter too.

This gig is perfect for him.

Why not give Smith the Flash film?
