Robbie Amell Will Return To THE FLASH As 'Deathstorm'

Last night, a new set image gave us confirmation that Robbie Amell would indeed be returning to season 2 of The Flash, most likely as the Earth-2 version of Firestorm. Now, EW has confirmed that is the case - but with a very dark twist! More past the jump...

Last night's spoilery image from the set of The Flash confirmed that Robbie Amell would be back as Ronnie Raymond after nobly sacrificing himself to save Central City in the season 1 finale - but how exactly is that possible? Most fans assumed this was the Earth-2 version of the character they were seeing, and they'd be right... but there's a bit more to it than that.

EW has revealed that Amell will actually be playing Deathstorm: the villainous incarnation of Firestorm that was resurrected as a member of the Black Lantern CORPS in the comics. "We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash," says executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. "You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm."

EW also confirms that Deathstorm will be teaming with Killer Frost (the Earth-2 version of Raymond's former wife Caitlin Snow played by Danielle Panabaker) to form a very dangerous double act.

The Flash returns Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

This show... It cheapens the source material so much that it's unwatchable.

Obviously there gonna use the new 52 deathstorm rather than blackest night.

In the new 52 martin stein fuses himself with a corpse and it has nothing to do with the lanterns

However I would imagine that in this universe martin stein instead died whilst connected to Ronnie therfore corrupting the matrix and causing deathstorm

I think I did read Blackest Night that's when Superman lost his powers and Phallax Hal Jordan sacrificed himself right?

Does any one else find it funny that there is another article hiding the reappearance of Robbie Amell as a spoiler while this article just blatantly states it in the title?

Ummm.... So if Ronnie is still firestorm in Earth 2 and he's evil then that makes me think the Barry E2 might have the kahunas to be Zoom..... have to watch more asap....

It's now been officially announced per the EW article, so it's not a spoiler any more.

Per EW, as in the website, not the magazine. IE, it's all over the net now. Casting/character announcements are not spoilers. Never have been, never will be. The set image from last night was spoiler tagged because at that stage we weren't certain Amell was going to return.

I hope they stick to the Zoom story line a little more... We get too much West family drama in season 2... If Wally West doesn't do anything in this season then Im gonna be a little annoyed they spent so much time on that crap.

Cant wait to get more clues to who Zoom might be... Still hoping its Eddie E2.

So when it was announced that Gal Gadot had been cast as Wonder Woman, that was a spoiler? Headlines should have read: Gal Gadot cast as SPOILER in Batman V Superman? Cop on.

@ManCalledSting

West family drama has been in almost every episode... The only reason it seems like is to introduce Wally to the show, in which all of this could've been done in one episode instead of constant Iris and Joe crying scenes which take up about 10 to 15 minutes of majority of episodes. If Wally doesn't do anything special this season I will chalk it up to stupid writing to waste time and introduce Wally. Just saying West family drama is the only thing holding this show back.
I can see "the Arrow plot style" time fillers happening when they do that crap. Lets keep the soap opera drama to a minimum and amp up the action a little more. Hate it when we get a great build up in an episode to only end with a short fight scene at the end of a good build up episode. Thats my only problem with this show. Other than that its my favorite DC show ever on TV.
