Dark Flash being The Flash's lead villain is arguably the movie's worst-kept secret, but with no sign of him outside of merchandise, we appreciate some of you might consider mentioning him as a spoiler!
That explains the spoiler tag in the headline, but for those of you who do want to learn more about Dark Flash, these newly revealed DC Multiverse action figures from McFarlane Toys offer our best look yet at the evil speedster. He's clearly human beneath whatever that twisted armour is and seems to have a glowing power source that runs from his head to his chest.
The prevailing theory is that it's a corrupted version of Barry Allen who has become Dark Flash, while it's previously been rumoured that his armour might be Kryptonian in nature.
An official description for another Dark Flash toy recently revealed that he "steals the [souls] of speedster heroes." Despite sharing his name with a character from the comic books, it seems Dark Flash will be a mostly newly created villain who is a combination of that baddie and Black Flash.
These toys have also revealed a better look at The Flash, the younger Barry Allen who dons a modified Batsuit, Supergirl, Michael Keaton's Batman, and Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader (we're loving his new costume).
Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.
That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian...albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
The Flash races into theaters on June 16.
