THE FLASH Season 2, Episode 3 Description; "Family Of Rogues" - 'Captain Cold' Is Back

The CW has released the official description for the third episode of The Flash's second season, and as you may have guessed from the title, this one is going to be all about the villains! What happens when Captain Cold meets up with his dad? Hit the jump to find out...

MICHAEL IRONSIDE GUEST STARS AS LEWIS SNART — When Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team find out Captain Cold (guest star Wentworth Miller) has been kidnapped, they form an uneasy alliance with his sister, Lisa (guest star Peyton List).  However, Barry feels double-crossed when he finds out Snart is working with his father, Lewis Snart (guest star Michael Ironside) on a heist. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) is faced with a difficult decision.  John Showalter directed the episode written by Julian Meiojas & Katherine Walczak.


Spending some time with Captain Cold's family should be a lot of fun, and it's going to be interesting what, if anything, this episode does set up the villain's role in DC's Legends of Tomorrow. There's no mention of Zoom or Jay Garrick here, so we'll have to wait and see if they factor into "Family of Rogues" in any way. For now, be sure to share your thoughts on these details below.

Agree it is, though Legends of Tomorrow may very well take that title @JoeMomma29 and we still have Daredevil s2 coming up!

Hope Tom Cavanagh returns he was bloody excellent all season 1.

I hope TNT still produces "Blackbirds" (Titans series) and I hope Matt Ryan's Constantine finds a home in the foreseeable future....

I wonder when Mirror Master and The Top will appear? Also, when will the Rogues (Cold, Heatwave, Golden Glider) include Weather Wizard and The Trickster?

Zoom is Barry from an alternate dimension. It seems very obvious.

From this description, I'm guessing the horrible writing, terrible acting and lame drama that took over the second half of the first season will carry this new season forward.

Just watched all of Colds episodes back to back the other day. Is eveey episode he's in going to be titled Rogue something lol. I hope he gets one episode where he's solo. Maybe delve into his past or maybe have it happen after his sister dies.

I have to say though, he's only been in 4 episodes or something but they have built him into a great character in just that short time

I love this show, but kind getting tired of this Capt. Cold already. I realize, is just easy to include him in more stories, because simply, they are outfitting a guy with goggles, instead of more CGI.

@Junito: That's not the main reason for why Captain Cold is used so often. It's because he's one of Flash's biggest (fr)enemies! The big three Flash Villians are Reverse Flash, Captain Cold and Gorilla Grodd! Plus he's the leader of the Rogues Gallery! Heck, I'm suprised Captain Cold isn't used more considering he's Geoff John's favorite DC character. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Cold. Well we will be seeing more of Cold in Legends of Tommorrow since he's a regular. This episode should flesh him out more since it's dealling with his father. It's sure to draw influence from Flash vol 2. Issue 182 (Absolute Zero) which fleshed out Cold and his origins. Written by Geoff Johns. The Flash show is a lot better about how to use villians than Arrow.

they need to do something....

STOP THINKING THAT THE ROGUES ARE JUST COLD AND HIS SISTER! i mean they have been teasing us the rogues since season 1, and we got just 2

when we got the heatwave, golden glider and cold team up they focus on snart sister...

they need to do an episode of the rogues like them deserve it

@Junito - Yeah, Cold is being used as a secondary main villain in the TV show! It's because in the Silver and Bronze Age comic lore, he's Barry's second most challenging nemesis behind Grodd! Third would be Captain Boomerang, with Mirror Master being fourth and the Reverse-Flash coming in fifth. Eobard didn't appear nearly as frequently in the comics as he does in the show, otherwise he might rank higher!
