THE FLASH's Lead Villain May Have Been Revealed (But It's Definitely Not Who You Were Hoping For)

There's been a lot of speculation surrounding who will be The Flash's lead villain, but a new report indicates that it's a character...well, let's just say it's not the big bad you were likely hoping for!

Last month, some photos surfaced from the set of The Flash showing Ezra Miller's Barry Allen talking to an unknown character who looked an awful lot like him.

At the time, we wondered if this might be an alternate universe doppelganger or even a stand-in for Miller to then shoot the other half of the conversation. Well, an explanation may have been revealed today, and it sheds some light on who The Flash's lead villain is going to be (something we've been wondering about for a while).

According to The Direct, the "other" Barry Allen is, in fact, the movie's big bad. He's set to serve as a "Dark Flash" to the Scarlet Speedster we first met in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and they note that "elements of this plotline will be heavily inspired by the 'Flashpoint' comic storyline and the villainous Reverse-Flash."

Reverse-Flash has obviously been heavily featured in The Flash TV show and explaining Eobard Thawne's role in Barry's life over the course of a single movie would be no easy task. However, replacing him with an evil Barry played by an apparent unknown definitely isn't what the majority of fans were hoping to see in this movie. However, if some leaked images are any indication, that was a stand-in, and Miller will be playing both the lead hero and villain.

In a leaked featurette for The Flash, a character hidden by a "Spoiler" tag was shown joining the Fastest Man Alive, Batman, and Supergirl on this adventure. What if this "Dark Flash" poses as a powerless Barry, only to then reveal his sinister side? That doesn't sound like the most exciting twist, but, who knows, it could work. This is just a rumour for now, so we'll see what happens.

Are you ready for some Barry on Barry action next year?
