AGREED!!!! The rocketeer was brilliant! Joe Johnston is great at writing period pieces! That's why i think he was selected to do Captain America

Man, Grif, does the negativity day after day, week after week, year after year ever get to you? You're entitled to your feelings, but after a while it just gets to be SO tiresome.

Great interview, Ed. Billy Campbell seems like a really cool guy. The Rocketeer still holds up really well to this day. Man, looking at the pic up top, Mr. Campbell seems like he could've been a serious contender for Bruce Wayne.

I was so sorry this one didn't fare well at the box office. It's always been a film I've loved. What also amazed me, and this is something that Billy Campbell and I discuss in part two, is how wonderful Timothy Dalton was in the film. If he'd brought that CHARM and humor to his portrayal of James Bond, I think the audience would have been more accepting of him. He was just so damn serious as 007.

@EdGross:
Thats true.
To me, its more about the quality of the film, not so much how much they make at the box office numbers. Take Serenity, great film, did poorly at the box office. Spider-Man 3, BS flick, did excellent at the box office.

In the end, the box office simply doesn't matter (hell, it's not like I've got a percentage of the take), but the fact is that The Rocketeer very nicely stands the test of time.

The was the first CBM movie that ever got an adaptation almost 100% right. Used to buy the comics before the film came out, small independent press and took ages for them to get the final issue out after they folded. Great memories, really miss Dave Stevens art, R.I.P Dave!

It's about time Disney made this movie available on blu-ray.

I actually saw this one in the theater when I was a kid and I never pass up a chance to watch it on tv or cable.

The action is good, the score is great, and Jennifer Connelly doesn't look anorexic.

Now, remaster Dick Tracy and put it on blu-ray, and we're good.

Great interview Ed, as always. One of my favourite films ever, will definitely be getting this on blu-ray.

@Gunsmith, I often wonder that when I see the movie, how his ass isn't being seared.

@Noomis I agree with your comment regarding Dalton as Bond, although a little tongue in cheek in a Bond film never goes astray.

With blu-ray it's actually like being a kid again, as these films on the new format look better than they ever did, so it's like watching them all over again.
