Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

In addition to “Thor: The Dark World”, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on more iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel (title TBA) on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

But still... why is Marvel neglecting the damn helmet? To me it's like taking away Superman's cape or taking away wolverines claws. Don't get me wrong Chris is perfect for Thor and Thor is my favorite Marvel character, but the helmet is a ICONIC part of the character. And why make the perfect helmet and only use it for 1 minute on screen?

Come on... that is epic. And this suit is the best On Screen suit for Thor yet. Give it the helmet and it would be PERFECT!

I think the costume looks a lot, lot better. I never really liked the almost tracksuit looking trousers from the first movie/Avengers.

@M3T4LL0- Agreed, Thor's helmet is crucial to his look. I do like the new costume however, and I'm glad he's not just wearing regular leather pants.

@M3T4LL0 - That 1 minute it was seen for was terrible i'm sorry but the helmet only looks good in the posters.

M3T4LLO@ Sorry, but Thor's helmet is not crucial to his on-screen look from my perspective. If we get a few looks at it, that's good enough for me. I completely understand the desire to market Hemsworth and the long blonde locks to the main stream viewer rather than the helmet for the fan boys and I have been a fan of Thor for over 40 years. The rest of his look is spot-on, so it doesn't bother me a bit.

Wolverine's claws are not part of his costume, they are part of his power and ability. Thor's helmet is just an accessory. Apples...oranges.

"crucial" is a subjective term. My opinion...Thor looks fine without the helmet, just as Wolverine looks fine without the cowl. Different strokes, but it's like saying Batman's yellow belt and Superman's red underwear are crucial because that is what we are used to seeing them wear. I don't think it diminishes the look at all if they aren't wearing them.

Do I prefer seeing them with those accessories as in the comics? Sure? Am I going to whine and complain about it? No.

Definitely looking more like classic Thor. The only way to make him look like comic book Thor is if he got a big bigger somehow.

Helmet is badass but when you cast a good looking guy like Hemsworth for a big budget movie, you don't cover his face. His face puts females in the theaters and not just dudes who know the comics or just like action movies

That costume looks really cheap this time. Marvel must be cutting back. it's def the worst look so far. The Avengers was a much better look.God only knows what the new Cap Costume will look like!

Someone should do an article of specifically what are all the characters that Marvel owns . Not just the big ones but the in between ones also . I know Both fox and Marvel have the rights to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver how many other dually owned characters are there and who are they . I am just bad at making articles , I can't even get pictures where I want them so I can't do it .

It could've been Hemsworth's decision not to wear then helmet. It could've been uncomfortable to him, you never know.

Costume look great.

Ps. Helmet

Design a new one if the last one was hard to wear or too funny to them.
Helmet is part of his look.

Agree 100% with Ranger.

As I was looking at the pictures, my sister in law just came past cooing "oooooo Thor". THAT'S why there's no helmet, to ensure horny female asses are filling seats and putting money in Marvel's pocket. Gotta remember that fanboys aren't the only ones seeing these movies and making them successful. It's a pretty small trade off that in the long term works within the best interests of everyone imho.
