Intriguing THOR: THE DARK WORLD Plot Details

In an interview with Total Film(out in February), actor Christopher Eccleston briefly touches on his role as Malekith in Thor: The Dark World. In the interview, Malekith is described as a 'bad guy with no redeeming qualities'. Interesting, but the real attention grabber is the fact that Malekith apparently 'plans to take over the universe-egged on by Tom Hiddleston's mischievous Loki'. The actor goes on to state that good scripts are paramount in his selection process for movie roles so that should bode well for Alan Taylor and co. Lots of questions raised here, for instance, is this something the God of Mischief set up during his time away from Asgard? Or is this something that developed post-Avengers? Judging by the red light in the set photos, Malekith has the Power Gem given to him by Thanos or he wants all the infinity gems for himself so that he can prevent Thanos from having them.

About the article I think it has something to do with a certain scepter Loki used to carry around, and a certaing blue glowing object in it.

Thanos Saga will be throughout phase 2 (maybe also on 3).

You raise some interesting questions. Loki putting Malekith in the forefront as a possible distraction for Thanos, who is clearly going to be comming for Loki.

No Loki, he's getting old...personally I don't feel that Loki should've been used for Avengers, there are much more interesting and cool Avenger villains to choose from like Ultron, Kang, Zemo those could have been way more interesting than the diva with daddy issues...

OBVIOUSLY I know that Loki was the first villain in the comics, but since when do CBMs stay true to their comics...all I was saying is that I'm getting kinda tired of Loki being the center of it all while their are other villains that are far more interesting and much cooler to use...

@JStark I couldnt have said it better myself. I for one dont understand how anyone can get tired of an awesome character or any character just by watching him in two movies, considering these people probably watch a tv series that is a couple of seasons long its jus confusing. Anyways Loki is tied to Thor till the very end there is no getting rid of him so deal with it.

If Loki "dies" it will be very ambiguous so that the door is left open for him to pop up again. At least, that's how they better do it.

Loki wants Malekith to have power so that he will take over before Thanos can, or so that Malekith will go after Thanos. That way Thanos can't punish Loki for failing.

I know folks are waiting for Enchantress and co (I'm not). But I actually wouldn't be surprised if they adapted Aaron's Gorr the God Butcher story in Thor 3. Look how quickly Winter Soldier made it onto the screen.
