Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD was directed by Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones") and will be coming to DVD soon. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Rene Russo, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Zachary Levi, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Kat Dennings, Christopher Eccleston, and Idris Elba.

I'm still blown away by the Dark Elf minion design. This costume tells you all you need to know about these dudes. It's a [frick]ing masterpiece. It's too bad they weren't well-utilized and the movie was overall less than spectacular.

Seriously, look at that closely. Those emotionless masks, pitch black goggles, and ear holes. Those are sci fi dark elves done right.

My family and I really enjoyed this movie. We're huge fans of fantasy as well as sci-fi and this movie definitely didn't disappoint! Thor was much tougher in this movie just as Cap was much tougher in his 2nd installment.

Ultron better be a [frick]ing super badass to take on the Avengers in AoU is all I'm going to say!

Loved the movie, despite it being edited down greatly. But it's most agonizing setback is the same problem the 1st movie had... And that's Darcy.

This probably could've been a spectacular film if it had not be cut down to merely nothing. The Dark Elves were a visually stunning enemy, yet they were hardly even shown at all and masses of their screen time was cut, as numerous fight scenes filmed with them never turned up in the final cut.
Such a disappointment.

@BlindJustice

yea I really enjoyed the movie too, that mix of sci-fi and fantasy was done just right in my opinion. Looking forward to the next one!

The Dark Elves should have been in the movie for a lot longer! The villains were so unforgettable and that's really sad seeing as how fantastic the design is and that Malekith was being played Christopher Eccelston! If only Earth wasn't so involved in this movie and that the run time for it wasn't so short. Can't believe they wasted time on Darcy and the others and left the villains so little time to develop.

I'm hoping that the villain for the third Thor movie gets a better treatment, heck I hope the third movie can reach the quality of either Iron Man or The Winter Soldier. Seriously, Thor is getting the short end of the stick in the MCU and I hope they rectify that by ending Thors trilogy with a bang.

I concur with my peeps saying they should have showcased the Dark Elves more. They were awesome, I called them as villains back in 2011. Now I am hoping for Enchantress, Skurge, and Surtur for Thor 3 please, Loki is a given.

The concept art is majestic indeed. This film just needed more Dark Elves and more Malekith and less Darcy.

@case

It gets a bad rep because the edited out a lot of the parts that could possibly have made the villains more interesting in favor of a bunch of bad, unnecessary, and ill timed jokes, that some times undercut what should have been very heavy moments. Now don't get me wrong I don't mind jokes, it't one of the best parts of the avengers for me, but when they feel so forced and unnatural they completely take you out of the experience. I do like the movie just not as much as i could have.

ps Great artwork this movie was beautiful

Beautiful artwork. Shame that we didn't see any of this in the movie. Marvel Studios has been slacking with Thor and his movies. Honestly, they don't know what they are doing. Thor was nerfed badly in TDW, Sif and the Warriors Three barely had screen time, Tyr only had two scenes, Malekith and Kurse were barely developed, and the battles were so short.

I seriously want Fiege to answer why Thor's movies are so short, while Cap and IM movies can be over two hours long.

The Thor movies are never as epic looking as their concept art. They feel so cheap and watered down.

SPOILER!

I think if Thor and Jane split up in Avengers AOU, I think Thor 3 should make Thor raw as [frick] like in the first movie. I think Thor spending so much time on Earth among mortals made him soft. I could see Odin or another Asgardian telling Thor that.
