Concept artist and character designer Michael Kutsche releases another piece of stunning art used in the creation of Thor

Now that Thor has been in theaters for a couple weeks, Marvel has loosened its iron grip of secrecy to allow some of the artists and designers who worked on the movie to display their artwork. A few days ago, Shasvre pointed us to two recently released images from concept artist and character designer Michael Kutsche, and now Kutsche has released a third character design on his personal website, an image of a Frost Giant.

Michael Kutsche is an award-winning German artist based in Los Angeles, California. He is a self taught artist who works both in traditional and digital media. His work is best described as an astoundingly lifelike depiction of parallel realities, populated by odd characters reminiscent of movies, comics but also Flemish Renaissance Painting. His unique approach of imaginative character creation has led him to become a character designer on Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”, “John Carter of Mars”, directed by Andrew Stanton and "Thor", directed by Kenneth Branagh. Parallel to his career in the film industry he still keeps track of his own projects, including paintings for future exhibitions, book projects etc.

Thor was written by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz, Don Payne, J. Michael Straczynski and Mark Protosevich and is based on the character created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby that first appeared in Journey into Mystery #83 in August 1962. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Joshua Dallas, Rene Russo, Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgård, Clark Gregg and Academy Award-winners Natalie Portman and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

did anybody else think the first half of Thor was friggin great and the last half sucked? what happened

@Dmoney they actually explained it, Loki was basically a 'runt of the litter', he was a small and weak creature born to the frost giants, but they practically abandoned him to die because he was disappointing, so Odin took him in, then suppressed his frostyness so he looked human asgardian. That's also very similar to the comic version, altho I think he's only half frost giant in the comics, which is why he's small. Regardless, Lauffey is his father in both versions (although interestingly enough in Norse legend, Lauffey is actually a woman and therefore Loki's mother and only parent)

Totally agree with Ghostt. The first half was just awesome. After Thor left Asgard, the movie stopped dead on its tracks. Im not a producer or anything, but I would have thought that you would want to keep some type of action going while Thor is finding himself in Midgard. They could've had Asgard being attacked and protected my Sif and the Warrior Three while Asgard was without their mightiest warrior and the all powerful Odin. But the action simple came to a halt. Additionally, why is Loki referring to Earth as Earth, instead of Midgard? Gods look down on earth, they wouldn't refer to Earth by what its popolation call it. I was disapointed with the movie, the hype was increadible, but the movie was nothing but movie of two halfs. Remind me of Full Metal Jacket... A movie in which the first half was great, then the second half was blahhh. And watching Mrs. Foster with that corny "Ohhh-My-God" almost made me puke. Loki was good, but whoever said that he was now side by side with Heath Ledger's Joker, is smoking too much crack. I really hope that Cap. America does a better job. I'm more concern about the Avengers movie becoming the Royal Rumble of movies, a whole lot of big stars, and two ours of "when is this crap gonna be over". I pray for the best, but my expectations are not high after seeing what Thor had to offer.

^^ If you read the script you'll find out that the warriors three and other characters were supposed to have more time onscreen, with better development. That's why I thing reading scripts isn't really "cheating".

I thought That was a great movie.
