While Thor: The Dark World finally storms into theaters worldwide today, MTV News was at the Marvel sequel's L.A. premiere earlier this week. In addition to Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, MTV also spoke with The Dark World stars Jaimie Alexander and Ray Stevenson about reprising their Asgardian roles during the film's mid-credits teaser, which is directed by Gunn and introduces Benicio Del Toro as The Collector from Guardians of the Galaxy. But first, excluded from MTV's video (below) is their quotes from Marvel producer Kevin Feige on the big Phase 3 teaser.
“The best Easter eggs do both. Nick Fury at the end of 'Iron Man,' for people who knew who he was, that was a nice Easter egg, but it was also informing the audience of what's to come,” he said. “So certainly the Infinity Stones and revealing that the Tesseract and the Aether are Infinity Stones. Comic fans perhaps know where that's going, and people who don't know that from the comic lore, I hope, will start to learn.” In a separate interview, Feige admits “It was always the plan to show that the tesseract was indeed an infinity stone, as was the Aether.”
“What?,...what is this guy talking about?” asks Jaimie Alexander jokingly when MTV's Josh Horowitz informed her of Sif's appearance in the scene.
“[The Collector's] hair is pretty awesome. I actually think [Bencio] did it pretty well. I enjoyed it. It was hard to keep a straight face. He's pretty rad!” the actress says, owning up to her inclusion.
“He's a tall chap, quirky, and mad as a bag of snakes,” says Ray Stevenson of Benicio Del Toro.
“I only met him that day, but it was tremendous working on their set (Guardians of the Galaxy), which is a completely different world to ours. You pink people, orange people, strange creatures... And [Bencio] just has this character that's just a delight. I can't wait to see the movie!” What do you think?
