STRANGER THINGS Star Eyed For Songbird Role In THUNDERBOLTS; Full Team Roster Possibly Revealed

Many fans have been left disappointed by the Thunderbolts roster, but a new rumor claims to shed some light on the team's full roster, including Songbird! Find out who's being eyed for the role here...

There was a lot of excitement surrounding the news that Marvel Studios is finally moving forward with a Thunderbolts movie, but the roster reveal definitely underwhelmed last summer.

With a team made up of Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, U.S. Agent, Ghost, Taskmaster, they're mostly Super Soldiers, meaning the group lacks variety and many of the heroes/villains who feature in the Thunderbolts comic books. Perhaps the most disappointing omission, outside of Daniel Brühl's Baron Zemo, is Songbird.

A founding member of the team, Melissa Gold - formerly known as Screaming Mimi - the character can produce supersonic screams, create constructs, and fly.

Now, a rumour shared by r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers' moderators from "trusted sources" claims that Songbird will be in Thunderbolts, with Stranger Things star Sadie Sink said to be among those eyed for the role. That's a little surprising when the actress is only 20 years old, but it likely means the movie will serve as an origin story for the character in the MCU.

As for the full roster, it's said that will consist of the characters revealed at D23 along with Songbird, Ironheart villain The Hood (Anthony Ramos), and The Sentry.

With any rumour like this, it's best to take the information revealed here with a pinch of salt for the time being. These additions do make sense, though a nine-person team seems a bit much. Of course, not every character will get the same amount of screentime, and The Sentry is actually expected to be the movie's big bad.

Thunderbolts' confirmed cast members include Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Florence Pugh as Yelena Boleva, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.

Written by Eric Pearson and directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts is set to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

Songbird's not supposed to be an old woman you know. She was a street kid that became a supervillain and then became an antihero as a member of the Thunderbolt's. 20's fine.

Think it would be far more interesting to have Songbird in this movie than The Sentry anyway, so this would be a welcome addition

This sounds like a Suicide Squad situation if they make Sentry the villain. There's no way in hell those characters would be able to beat Sentry. Not in a million years. None of them would even be able to touch him.

So they'll either heavily depower Sentry in the movie or there will be some silly MacGuffin that makes them able to beat him. I'm not sure which is worse, but this team shouldn't even be playing in the same ball field as Sentry, if we're being honest.

@CorndogBurglar - Yeah I'm really concerned about this movie. I really like the Thunderbolts in the comics but without some powerful metahumans on the roster, they have literally no chance of beating Sentry.

SS didn't work in concept because it was literally some people with guns, a girl with a bat, a girl with a sword, a crocodile man, a guy with boomerangs that he barley used, and only one metahuman who didn't even wanna use his powers against a world-ending, magical entity.

I have a feeling if Sentry's the villain, a whole lot of people are gonna die. I think that the team revealed at D23 is gonna be the backup team while another team, that Songbird might be a part of, will get absolutely massacred by Sentry. I hope Songbird is the lone survivor of the A team while the rest are killed (you could bring in characters like Swordsman, Blizzard, Mongoose, Texas Twister and several other obscure villains to be part of this team).

Let's start with this question - is there really a need for Sentry to be a part of this at all? I would rather him have his own special and, quite honestly, not be a part of all of the movies. IDK - Sometimes I feel they cram things in for the sake of cramming. Don't get me wrong, I love all the different characters. But, you know, I would rather see more cameos than full story lines. Kind of like what you see in the comics all the time. An opening scene where a hero is taking down a bad guy with the help of a neighboring hero for a bit. It is interesting where they are taking all of this. And, by the way, it all doesn't need to be connected in some way, either. JMHO and $.02. Take or leave it.

@AgentSmith - Yelena, Bucky, John, Ava, Taskmaster, Red Guardian, and now maybe Songbird, the Hood, and Sentry. That's 9 characters you need to focus on and give an equal amount of screen time. I agree they are cramming a lot into this movie and it's gonna backfire on them.

@FilmGuy7878 - Personally I'd keep John, Taskmaster and Yelena as the three bickering captains of the team, put in Radioactive Man as the sympathetic metahuman (similar to Polka-Dot Man), Eric O'Grady aka Black Ant as the scumbag who betrays the team by the end, Songbird as the innocent one who wants to do good, and finally Grizzly as the team's anthropomorphic muscle.

So I take it they do not want to cast a grown man for this role the same way they already casted a teenaged ginger girl for Flagsmasher ?

Great news! Once they confirm that Nemo WILL be on the team I'll really start buzzing. He's in the MCU and in the comics. Come on guys! Make is happen!
