THUNDERBOLTS Star Wyatt Russell Discusses Whether Red Hulk And Baron Zemo Appear In The 2025 Movie

Thunderbolts star Wyatt Russell has shared an update on the upcoming Marvel Studios movie, revealing whether he believes Harrison Ford's Red Hulk and Daniel Bruhl's Baron Zemo will appear in the team-up.

Thunderbolts has been a victim of the Hollywood strikes, losing its original December 2024 release date and slipping down the release calendar to July 25, 2025. 

On the plus side, it's allowed Marvel Studios to refine the long-awaited project which will assemble Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell's U.S. Agent, Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, David Harbour's Alexei Shostakov, Hannah John-Kamen's Ghost, Olga Kurylenko's Taskmaster, and Steven Yeun's Sentry. As for who sends them into battle, that will be the MCU's new "Nick Fury," C.I.A. Director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus). 

Despite featuring a team primarily made up of characters from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Black Widow, there's a lot of excitement for the movie. Speculation is also running rampant that the team will get its name from Captain America: Brave New World's President "Thunderbolt" Ross. 

Plus, given the character's history with the team on the page, Daniel Bruhl's Baron Zemo has to be in it, right? 

"Daniel is not going to be it, [but] he could play a part in it," Russell recently told The Playlist. "I don’t know. I haven’t read a script yet, but as of now, I’m not sure."

As for a possible Red Hulk appearance, the actor added, "Harrison’s in Captain America 4, I think. I don’t know, I haven’t read a script, so I don’t know who exactly who’s in it. I know Florence is in it,  I know Sebastian’s in it. I know David Harbour is going to be in it. David Harbour is another guy who’s, like, so good. I love everything he does. I love everybody in it so much."

"And the director, [Jake Schreier], who [directed me in HBO’s] 'Lodge 49' or [directed] a lot of 'Lodge 49' - I feel very, very lucky. I hope it ends up being as good as I feel lucky. And yeah, I’m really excited."

So, they might be in or they might not. Wyatt, however, is just excited to share the screen with his fellow MCU actors. "Florence Pugh is so good, man - she’s one of the best actresses that there are right now. And Sebastian Stan, one of the better actors that there are right now."

We're intrigued to see what shape Thunderbolts takes and whether it can do its lead characters justice. This is an Avengers-sized cast and Schreier's biggest project to date, but all the ingredients are there for one of the Multiverse Saga's best movies.

"Reveals," means he confirms or denies something. Change your headlines to, "comments on." This one was pathetic, dude. I'm not for bullying or anything. Maybe if Taskmaster was an actual character with a personality this would be interesting. Task I feel could have brought the same gravitas someone like Deadpool brings to the screen. Ghost should have been a creepy male hacker type character not a pretty girl we feel bad for. Old Abomination should have been apart of the team but he was reduced to a throwaway comedic character now.

But you can tell from the way the title is worded alone that the answer in thr article either was going to be a "no", or an "idk".

Josh would have made the article a lot more exciting with exclamation marks and stuff if it was a "yes"!

Never expected an article like this that gets the most commenters to gang up on Josh. It's no different from the other articles.

Anyway, think it would be a shame not to have Bruhl's Zemo in it. Even if the main focus is stealing Vibranium and the villain is The Sentry, Zemo could (and should?) be the one pulling the strings.

After this story is done, he co-opts the team name and creates his own team. Thunderbolts 2 looks like the team we are familiar with in the comics

And most people don't like clickbait.

Yes, it's no different from other articles, but people want better. Josh just wasted my time (again), and he doesn't seem to care that he does this to people who love this subject we come here to read. He is capable of excellent writing, but reverts to low standards, but himself wants higher standards in film writing.

I know clickbait increases the odds of more ad revenue, but it's a shitty way to treat your readers.

I hate it, and with each shitty clickbait attempt, I care about coming here less, read less, and I would gladly pay a monthly subscription for a site that treats their readers with proper respect.

@Vigor - I kinda wanna see the movie open with a team led by Zemo, and the revealed roster is actually the second team.

Zemo's team was sent to retrieve the Vinranium, but instead they stumbled onto something (later revealed as the Sentry). They then dissappear, leading to the second team being sent in. It's then revealed Zemo actually broke bad (surprise) and now uses The Sentry to his own advantage.
