People likes Tintin. Its fun and light reading even there is subjects like drugs, guns, revolution and alcoholism and people die in it.

He is pretty famous here in Europe so its no wonder so many people wants to see how Spielberg and Jackson handle the character.

I´m so going to see this in theaters ;)

Saw it today. It is AMAZING - and I'm a BIG Tintin fan (I'm from Denmark, and grew up reading the comics). It's a reinvention in a way, because it doesn't stick to the albums 100 percent but mixes 2 albums and an original bit. I brought my Amarican wife, who is no fan of cartoons, and she loved it as well. So go see it - it's highly recommended.

Told you so (about make huge numbers in Europe)! ^^ The character has a big appeal from the start but being a good movie will provide it strong legs as well (unlike the last Asterix movies).
I can't see it reaching to Avatar though.
