If you're a Rick and Morty fan, then you're no doubt used to being patient. The wait between seasons in the past has been agonising, but there's not long to go until a fifth batch of episodes arrives.

Adult Swim has announced that season five of Rick and Morty will premiere on Sunday, June 20th at 11pm ET/PT. The first trailer has also been released, and there's plenty of crazy footage to delve into. Despite the quite sad note things ended on in season four after Rick acknowledged what a terrible father he's been to Beth, it seems family will be key during this season.

It's also been announced that June 20th will be "Rick and Morty Day," a full 24-hour celebration of the show which will see the release of new behind-the-scenes footage, previews of what's to come, and other "special surprises" on TV and across Adult Swim's social media platforms.

Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland voices the two title characters, Sarah Chalke plays Beth, Chris Parnell stars as Jerry, and Spencer Grammer voices Summer. Based on the past few years, expect this upcoming fifth season to feature plenty of A-List guest stars as well.

Wasn't a fan of Season 4, so hopefully it can improve this season.

I might watch it eventually, but it's a show that hasn't really been high on my ''gotta watch this ASAP when it is released'' list anymore the last few seasons.

If you can't appreciate the genius of Rick and Morty then iys not fir you, all seasons have been great. I encourage you to watch every season more than once. It's not a one time watch show. Yes I'm including last season, which was also great. Can't wait for more.

First two seasons were alright. Last two seasons were mostly just forced meme generators.

Season 4 was a huge step down for me. Also the most forgettable. Hopefully a return to form.

@MrDandy - Yeah, I just binged it last week and completely forgot the finale. The first 2 are gold and the last 2 have been meh. Hopefully this one's pretty solid

I still feel the show peaked real early. R&M mess up their world, find one where they died, and replace themselves like 3 eps in. That's a big high concept stunt to pull and the show has struggled to find comparable highs ever since. Show also definitely faces the issue of quality vs. quantity, however polished and incredible they make one show it's still only giving them 23 minutes, and that's becoming a bigger problem as they carry on.

I can only speak to my personal reaction, but I watched season one multiple times, talked about it with people I know, and recommended it to people who might like it. I still have some eps from the last season that I haven't watched yet.
