RICK AND MORTY Season 7 Trailer Previews A Whole Batch Of Wild New Adventures & Reveals New Voice Actors

After being announced last week, Adult Swim has released the official full-length trailer for Rick and Morty season seven, offering a first listen to the new voices that will replace Justin Roiland.

The upcoming ten-episode seventh season of Adult Swim's hit animated comedy Rick and Morty has been shrouded in mystery ever since the network announced earlier this year that series co-creator Justin Roiland had been fired from the show after being charged with felony domestic battery and false imprisonment, as well as additional inappropriate conduct, and that the titular roles of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith would be recast with soundalikes ahead of the new season.

Well, while we don't have the names of the new voice actors just yet, the official season seven trailer gives us our first listen to the new voices and they sound nearly identical to Roiland's iteration of the characters, so it seems as though the producers have succeeded in finding suitable replacements.

It remains unclear why the network is keeping the identity of these new actors a secret, even after today's trailer launch, but, there's a decent chance it might have something to do with the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, which would prevent the new stars from promoting the new season even if they were revealed today.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is holding the reveals for the night of the season premiere, so it seems like their identities may directly tie into the plot of the first episode, or we may just have to tune in to the credits to learn more. Their sources shared the following statement, “We want the show to speak for itself. “We believe in the strength of the season and our new voices and we want to preserve the viewing experience for fans.

ICYMI, here are the season seven air dates and episode titles with their respective synopses:

  • Oct. 15 – "How Poopy Got His Poop Back" – "Broh, come out with us, you're being so boring dude"
  • Oct. 22 – "The Jerrick Trap" – "Gotta be mindful Broh, big brain stuff here."
  • Oct. 29 – "Air Force Wong" – "Virginia is for lovers Broh"
  • Nov. 5 – "That's Amorte" – "Broh, That's-A Some Good Spaghetti"
  • Nov. 12 – "Unmortricken" – "Rick And Morty Wilding Out, Broh. They getting up to stuff."
  • Nov. 19 – "Rickfending Your Mort" – "Gotta keep those receipts, Dawg."
  • Nov. 26 – "Wet Kuat Amortican Summer" – "High School, Broh. Morty and Summer hang out in this one."
  • Dec. 3 – "Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie" – "Action! Adventure! It's a whole movie, Broh!"
  • Dec. 10 – "Mort: Ragnarick" – "Heaven is for real, Broh. I saw it, Broh, I swear."
  • Dec. 17 – "Fear no Mort" – "Only thing to fear is fear itself, Broh."

As expected, the synopses are decidedly vauge, so it's hard to tell what we'll be getting this season, but the trailer does offer plenty of quick teases for Rick and Morty's latest batch of wild adventures.

the voices sound about right, but the delivery sounds a bit flat

@dracula - We will really hear if they are good when Rick and Morty yell in fear like they normally do.

I never knew who did the voices until after all the controversy so it matters little to me.

@PlusUltra - you didnt know that the creator of the show also did the voices? Weird, but irrelevant because it's not going to be the same whether you knew who the actor was or not.

@Ryguy88 - Most people don’t care who’s behind the voices of these animated characters. 99% of people that watch The Simpsons don’t even know Bart’s voiced by a woman. It’s never been that deep.

@PlusUltra - everyone knows Bart is voiced by a woman, that hasnt been a surprise since the mid 90's.

Pretty spot on. Sh*t, if I didn't know any better I would assume it was the same guy

A little different but we will adjust!

Sucks it had to happen but aside from the allegations, Roiland was simply too unprofessional to work with anymore. Harmon was always the true mind of the show.

The voices: Better than expected, yet not good enough.

This would have been the perfect opportunity to just send this show to bed. It has long overstayed its welcome. Now it feels like a zombie.

@Drace24 - it’s crazy to know that this show will go on for another 3 years.

It baffles me that they didn't just let this show rest but when you got a cash cow I guess you gotta milk it to death.

oof…so so close. will absolutely be watching because i just love the show.

anybody think they might have used the new actors with some form of tech to try and craft it closer to Roiland’s voice? I don’t know much about the new AI capabilities but I did wonder if that might be what they were going to try.

@maxx - that could be the case, but I doubt it. I think it's more likely they got replacement actors. There are a lot on youtube alone that do (near) perfect impressions.

And now that I'm thinking of it, it would be cool imo if they got a different voice actor for each episode

Those impressions are really good. It's so close, I can see (or rather, hear) past the small differences.

Also, I hope this season ties up the loose ends to the Prime Rick storyline in case it's the last season.

Morty sounds pretty spot on. Rick sounds really close, just more raspy when yelling. We’ll see how they do in the scene.

Uh Morty sounds okay, while Rick sounds somewhat off.

Better than the replacement voice they got for Aku in Samurai Jack season 6, which should have just hired a really good impersonator.
KelvTwelve
KelvTwelve - 9/25/2023, 8:42 PM
@HulkisHoly - Greg Baldwin IS the really good impersonator. He's not perfect, but Hollywood's yet to find anyone to replace him as he took over for Mako on Avatar and TMNT as well.

@KelvTwelve -

“Really good” must be a relative term because he was clearly a different voice than Aku.

Just like Solar Opposites, I definitely miss Roiland voicing the characters.

Rick sounds the best, but still slightly off. Not bad though. Morty sounds like someone trying to do a morty impersonation.

Sounds the same to me...but I haven't watched much of the show besides a handful of episodes.

I can tell slightly. It’s almost identical but you can tell. It’s throwing me off lol. I just have to forget about it and enjoy the show and hopefully I won’t think about it.
