Deadline has revealed that Amazon's upcoming adaptation of Garth Ennis Darick Robertson's twisted comic book series The Boys has added its first cast member.

Erin Moriarty (Kings of Summer, True Detective), who played the ill-fated Hope Shlottman on Marvel's Jessica Jones, will play Starlight, "a young woman with superhero powers who can make lightning bolts flash from her eyes. Her dream is to be a real superhero like the famous Seven."

In the comics, Annie is recruited to be a member of The Seven, but the rest of her teammates turn out to be the scum of the earth. She eventually starts up a friendship with The Boys' new recruit Wee Hughie, though neither is aware of the other's "day job."

The Boys hails from Sony Pictures TV Studios, which will co-produce with Amazon, and Neal H. Moritz’s studio-based Original Films.

I've been digging Amazon's stuff (especially excited for the return of The Tick). I hope this is good!

I liked the comic to a point, but whereas Preacher was witty as well as gross and ott, The Boys was just constantly as disgusting as possible without much of the clever humor.

If Simon Pegg does not accept the role of Wee Hughie, I know someone who will happily accept.

Wow, just read what happens with her character and I’ve since decided that this comic is definitely not for me. Love what I’ve read of the Preacher comics, but this just seems a bit too much.

HBO's Watchmen to begin filming in March 2018

and

Spider-Man (Homecoming?) 2 working title will be "FALL OF GEORGE," continuing the theme Seinfeld-inspired.

@L0RDbuckethead - Does everything film in March.

Is the HBO Watchman related to the film?

@Forthas - Lindelof hasn't stated anything definitive yet. Surely he'll just expand on the original source material instead of just redoing the film but in tv show format. Or maybe he could do a prequel detailing what happened to some of the original Minutemen?

Just throwing out ideas, it's gotta be one of those three.

@L0RDbuckethead - The prequel idea sounds like the most likely...then if the series does really well then a DC crossover.
