THE WALKING DEAD: More From Gale Anne Hurd On Season 4 And A Possible Movie

In a lengthy interview with Deadline, The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd has talked in detail about the future of the series before the second half of season three premieres tonight on AMC. You can read her thoughts on the departure of showrunner Glen Mazzara and creator Robert Kirman's role in the production of the series by clicking on the link below. As for the future however, it should perhaps come as no surprise that the rumours and buzz surrounding a big screen spin-off of some sort are still nothing more than just that. "Right now, seriously, we’re focused on Season 4," Hurd told the site. "If there was a movie, there are so many decisions that would need to go into it. The availability of the cast and all of that."

As for when we should expect to see The Walking Dead back on the small screen, it doesn't sound as if AMC will be changing their plans (unlike Showtime's Dexter for example which was recently moved to a summer premiere date). "I have a feeling that it will more than likely it will be sometime in October and more than likely sometime during AMC’s Fearfest. I don’t know when exactly, we haven’t even discussed it." Over the past couple of years, a lot of movie studios have decided to shun the San Diego Comic Con. Will AMC? "I don’t know yet if we’ll be at Comic-Con. We don’t even begin those discussions for a couple of months. It’s contingent on a lot of things. I love Comic-Con so I’ll be there even if the show isn’t. I’m a geek anyway. And I love New York Comic-Con too and we try to be there as well. But part of it depends on what slot we get and if we have to shut down production. And that’s out of our hands."

This show could easily be turned into a standalone movie that fits within the series and progresses the story towards the next season...just don't bonk it like X-Files did by trashing previously established mythology canon, etc.

Danegerous: the game coming out is pretty much a prequel for the Dixon brothers.

Loving season 3. But I hope after Season 4, the threat focuses on zombies again instead of humans.

I think if they were to show the back story of the badass bros would do more harm than good. Often when this type of thing happens we are left very disappointed.
