AMC dropped a surprise teaser for the eleventh season of The Walking Dead last night after the first Season 10C "bonus episode," along with the announcement that the show will return for its final run this summer.

The promo didn't reveal much, but that "New World Order" tag is an obvious hint that The Commonwealth will play a big part in this final arc, just as they did in the comics.

In the meantime, Daryl, Carol and the others are going to have a very different threat to contend with in the form of The Reapers. Maggie returned during "Home Sweet Home," but she had what appears to be a very formidable - not to mention ruthless - bunch of baddies at her heels.

We also got to see the tense face-off between Maggie and Negan, and while cooler heads prevailed this time, Mags is clearly going to struggle with keeping a lid on her anger - especially now that little Herschel has been added to an already volatile situation.

"I think it's part of what we got to see in that episode, is that Maggie sees Negan but she didn't say anything to him," actress Lauren Cohan tells EW. "She has this tightly locked box of everything that could be unleashed that you can't even prepare to open without unexpected consequences and fallout and reactions. And she obviously gets to share some of this with Daryl, but Negan is definitely going to manipulate in any way that he can and that he sees fit to try to have a place to be in this world.

That's how he developed his whole crew in the first place. That's how he's always conducted himself. And I think that another big part of this for her is just as important as the revenge in dealing with him now being there is, I have to put my son first."

@RorMachine - lukewarm defense of show's recent seasons after stopping watching 5 years ago, etc, etc

@teefurtree - the introduction was pretty much when it peaked. And they’ve made so many bad plot choice that have differed from the comic, which also ended on a weak note.

In the same ‘no one i know watches this yet it’s insanely successful somehow’ category as Big Bang Theory

Wait...what happened to RICK? Will he return?

@IronGenesis - the only thing that’s been mentioned is him starring in one off films by AMC to show his journey but... I have a feeling we are never getting that lol

I could see them scrapping those films and having him show up at the end of this final season.

Not gonna lie, that looks awesome. So sad that they deviated so wildly from the comic and ruined the show...

Wonder if it'll have a somewhat similar ending to the comic or go it's own way.

I remember the days everyone was watching this show. My god what happened? momentum? I dropped out sometime S8, but I know many who left much earlier than that. The ratings for this show were insane, and if I'm correct, they're not bad now either... but it used to dominate.

@VicSage - I think it's a rare type of show that can pull good ratings for much longer than 7, 8 seasons. The exceptions I can think of are those without a linear, multi-season plot, which you can pick up anytime without necessarily having watched everything beforehand - like South Park or Jeopardy or various soap operas, serial cop/hospital show, etc. Just spitballing here but I feel like the number of new viewers who come into linear, memory-having shows is very small because few people want to spend/waste all that damn time catching up. Then life happens/people get bored, to the initial pool of viewers, so more out than in.
Also TWD now is almost unrecognizable from its early seasons, which on one hand it's pretty cool to see a complex post-apocalyptic society form all the way from the start, but on the other hand any new viewer is just going to go "what the f*ck is going on and who are these characters"
Also for the record I haven't watched TWD since season 6 lol

What’s with all the stormtroopers?? I stopped after series 4 so I’ve no idea who the commonwealth are. I also thought series 10 was the last, guess I was wrong.

And Black Lighting only gets 4 season along jwith plenty of other good shows that only have one.

I’m happy when fans get to watch something they love carry on for a long time and not get bored of it. Like this or Supernatural, I’m just waiting for one I can enjoy.

Dead man walking is how I'd describe it. This show is well played out now, along with the likes of Supernatural. 11 season's is way too much and it's thoroughly milked. Better shows than this ended in just 6 or 7 seasons. Lost interest after the first season. Zombies like vampires are so past their sell by date the smell of decay is rank.
