And who could blame her. There’s been talk for months now to reboot Joss Whedon’s Buffy The vampire Slayer series. And plans are now under way to re(make, boot, launch, imagine, tool) the show's concept for a new movie franchise without so much as a nod towards the creator Joss Whedon.
When Cinemablend asked Allyson Hannigan about this she said..
"Yeah, and that's a very big mistake in my opinion. I mean if Joss isn't involved, it's only the title."
Asked if there was any chance she would be associated with the movie she said..
"Not without Joss. Joss is the only reason that we would go back. I mean, it's just ridiculous to think of that TV show without Joss. That's just silly to me… And all the fans know that, too, so I don't know what they're thinking."
Well, I'll tell you exactly what they are thinking. They are thinking dollar signs. With
Twilight(basically a watered down
Buffy ripoff anyway) more popular than ever they see it as a chance to cash in on the teeny/horror market. And there's nothing wrong with that. It happens all of the time. But why in the name of Angel not go back to the man that made the damn concept so popular in the first place? I've only been a casual fan, but there is no denying the excellence of the writing and the later seasons are very good.
Anyway, I just wonder if these fools know what they are letting themselves in for. Buffy has a massive and loyal fan base. I sense pickets!
