A reimagining of the classic series, is an action-adventure drama about 20-something Angus "Mac" MacGyver, who creates the Department of External Services (DXS), a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem-solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives. Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former CIA agent Jack Dalton; Patricia Thornton, an ex-field agent turned director of operations; and Riley Davis, an unpredictable computer hacker with a chip on her shoulder. At home, MacGyver is entertained by his ambitious roommate, Wilt Bozer. Under the aegis of the Department of External Services, MacGyver takes on the responsibility of saving the world, armed to the teeth with resourcefulness and little more than bubble gum and a paper clip.

Is it just me, or does this guy have a face that is just begging to be slapped?

That issue aside, I really don't see how this is going to translate into modern times unless they completely change everything. Mac workung for the Government and not having a gun (which is a major defining characteristic) is going to be silly in our modern, violent, entertainment culture.

This may have made sense in the 80's where you had shows like the A-Team where guys were hosing each other with fully automatic rifles and nobody ever got shot, but that's not where we are right now.

@TomSolo - Yeah, some shows magic and charm just can't be recreated these days. And this definitely seems devoid of that spark of the original. I'm betting this will go the same route as the reboots of Knight Rider, Ironside, Charlie's Angels and Bionic Woman.

The only modern TV reboots that seemed to work is Battlestar Galactica and Hawaii 5-0, but both those originals already had some serious subject matter.
