ARROW Casts Former TEEN WOLF Star To Portray 'Roy Harper'

One of the stars of Teen Wolf, (who has recently announced his exit from the show) has found a new home in Starling City as DC Comics character 'Roy Harper'. Who is playing him and when can we expect to see him in Arrow? Find out after the jump...

According to TVGuide, The CW has signed former Teen Wolf actor Colton Haynes to portray Roy Harper, who DC Comics fans know as 'Red Arrow', 'Speedy' or even 'Arsenal'. However, it's quite obvious we won't see him shooting arrows just yet.



Executive Producer Greg Berlanti said that "We were big fans of Colton from Teen Wolf and we are thrilled he's joining Arrow." The CW has described the character as "a handsome, street-savvy, teenager from 'the Glades,' the harsh, poverty-stricken portion of Starling City.". Harper will be introduced as a love interest to Thea Queen, who is "destined to become a significant part of her life and an important player in the larger world of Arrow."

The character is expected to show up in Early 2013 after the mid-season finale, and will be introduced to Oliver in "an unexpected way". Haynes joins Seth Gabel (Vertigo), John Barrowman, Katie Cassidy, Stephen Amell and Colin Donnell in the cast of Arrow.

He looks exactly like Red Arrow and he is a decent actor so I am down for it.

@ClaireLannister2016, why not this early? Think about it. Roy Harper actually made his comic book debut the same issue as Oliver Queen. He's been part of the Green Arrow mythos since day one. Longer than any other character besides Green Arrow. So it makes sense to introduce him this early.

@LP4, assuming he's the same age as Thea, he'll be 17 years old. Oliver is 27, so he's 10 years younger.

I'll be honest, I think this is a little early to be doing, but I will wait to see how they pull it off. They've done well with everything else so far, so I wouldn't be surprised if I like this regardless of how early this may be in the series, and the Green Arrow mythos.

this means red hood and the outlaws. please dear god let jason todd make an appearence as red hood on the show. and please let there be nathan fillon as green lantern. if that shit happens this would be the greatest comic adaption to tv ever

Its such a typical CW Teenage Girl Show, every main guys in it is a twentysomething prepared to get his shirt off and show his chest or some carreer girl or teen squabbling about her relationship or assertive girlpower to prove her worth at her job blah blah bollocks. He even has an angst ridden teen sister and soon they'll give her a bunch of teen accomplices to oogle at her older brother the "Arrow". They don't even have the balls to call the damn thing Green Arrow or give him a real beard, he has to look like some designer stubble teenage boy band member.

There's like 90 percent teenage girls watching this shit and 10% clueless fanboys waiting for the next cheesy costumed villain to appear so they can watch another badly choreographed fight.

I just wish this show calmed down a bit. I love it by the way but this is only the first season. Now maybe they wont have until the second or the end of the first but already how many characters are you really going to have on the first season. Let him do his thing its like they add characters cause ollie doesn't have powers and I guess they were worried about the shows success
