ARROW Episode 205 "League Of Assassins" Poll & Discussion

"The child of Ra's Al Ghul demands your return." Arrow sure does know how to entertain its comic book fans. Even with much of this episode devoted to flashbacks to Sara Lance's survival after the Queen's Gambit capsized, there's still a lot of unknowns about what exactly happened to her. Hopefully those questions get answered sooner rather than later and the League of Assassins return in a future epsiode.

Arrow season 2 premiere City of Heroes

ARROW season one is available on blu-ray and dvd now.

"While Oliver (Stephen Amell) tends to the Canary’s (Caity Lotz) wounds, he tries to get her to talk about where she came from but she refuses. However, after Oliver and the Canary are attacked at the Queen mansion by a trained killer from the League of Assassins, she confesses to how she’s connected with the nefarious group. Meanwhile with Moira (Susanna Thompson) facing multiple counts of murder and conspiracy for her part in the destruction of The Glades, the Assistant District Attorney (guest star Dylan Bruce) offers her a choice – plead guilty now and avoid the death penalty or take your chances in court. Thea (Willa Holland) begs her mother to fight for her life but Moira seems resolute about taking the offer. Meanwhile, Oliver is furious with Laurel (Katie Cassidy) for joining the prosecution’s team on his mother’s case."

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

I didn't see a Wayne enterprise easter egg but if someone spots one post it! I'm planning to rewatch this episode anyways.

They gave a bunch of nice shout outs to Batman Begins "Mind your surroundings." I liked that they gave Canary an arabic name, maybe Ra's will finally be played by someone arabic.

The " Mind your surroundings " easter egg brought a big smile to my face and the mention of Ras and the child of Ras Al Ghull meaning Thalia is in this universe as well, double awesome :D

Another great episode :D

Sarah had more character development in one episode than Laurel's had in the full series... It's gonna take a major change to Laurel's character to make her likeable.

Also I had a feeling Diggle would get sidelined once more of the DC heroes started showing up, so its good to see him getting the focus next episode.

I hope there will be a team up of Oliver, Slade, Shado and Sara in one of the flashbacks soon. Also awesome episode this week.

One of the great things about this show is that it has NO FORMULA. I guess you could say it's like water, like Jeet Kune Do.

You could watch it's greatest episodes (which are like many) and you'll find they are all very different but thrilling and entertaining.

They keep doing episodes that keep making me say to myself: "Ok, this is the best one yet."

They took the characters in some really great directions in this one.
Once Oliver pieces together that the League is a force in the City and that they are behind everything including the prosecution of his Mother this will give him a much needed new agenda and new fight to replace the Book. That's an element that was missing but this one will be even better than before.

And again this show bests every Marvel and DC film of 2013.

OH MY GOD.
SO MUCH WIN.

Kind of disappointed by Al-Awwal's quick departure, BUT OH MY GOD.

Caity Lotz and Stephen Ammell PERFECTLY channel the naive innocence in the flashbacks,AND the hardened bad-asses in present day. SO GOOD!

Interesting love the inclusion of the League of Assassins. Still hate the no killing thing. Takes down the drama of the show. Besides if they are so against killing Lance shot that one guy... and he didn't get up so yeah what's that? Plus it gives people a very wrong idea of fighting. You can't fight and not have a good chance of killing the person. Even on accident. So yeah.

Ok I'll get off that subject. Anyway good episode. Can't wait to find out what really happened to Sarah.

Sad that Laurel is reduced to being the drug addict a storyline I'm not really feeling. Good actress bad story for her. Hope they stop that and get her some training so she can fight too.

In the episode where Sara reveals to Ollie that shes Canary, she asks him " what happened to Slade " so im guessing they all end up on the boat and something happens to Slade while on the boat or back on the island...

Im hoping something goes down that somehow Slade feels betrayed and he " dies " and they leave him behind, but he comes back later in the present day to get back at Ollie for abandoning him.

@Scorpion8125 Deadshot, Slade, Waller, Ivo are 100% NOT a 90210 types. And also heroines like Canary and The Huntress MUST be cute and young, no milfs!

They will not connect these CW shows to the DCU. It just won't happen. They are already using way too many characters on this show and those actors in those roles would never be cast as those characters in a billion dollar WB studio film. I really like Arrow but Amell and the guy cast as Flash are not bankable actors that could hold their own with Affleck or Cavill (even though I don't consider him all that great of an actor either) on screen in an ensemble movie. Would true DC fans really want their first film version of the JLA to be a bunch of 20 something no name actors? I wouldn't want that at all and I am not a die hard DC fan by any means. Marvel gets RDJ, Evans, Hemsworth, ScarJo, Renner, Ruffallo & Sam Jackson and DC would have Affleck, Cavill, Amell, whoever they cast for the Flash show & that petite "potential" WW actress we got news about earlier today. That's a horrible line up IMO. They need big names for big characters like WW, Flash & GL. Also, I honestly don't see Green Arrow being included in a JLA movie considering Hawkeye was already used in Avengers. Flash & Quicksilver would already be pushing it a little.

I'll never understand how the "Raysh" pronounciation came into being, I just don't see how it makes any sense. That was my one problem with Batman TAS, and I was happy that Nolan got it right.

So yeah, thumbs up, Arrow! ;)

Love this show...now to address points-
AMELL can hang in a movie with Cavill and Affleck so can Grant (Flash). Who the hell was Chris Hemsworth before Marvel ? Amell is in the same boat.

"Arrow is better than Agents of SHIELD". Are we really comparing 30 episodes of ARROW vs 7-8 episodes of SHIELD ?
Secondly- ARROW can give fans whatever they want as they aren't married to any known current plotlines. SHIELD has to run concurrently with the MCU. It cannot just offer up Luke Cage and Jessica Drew and battle AIM and MODOK because it is handcuffed. Its downfall is that Avengers SPOILED everybody. Now a hero can't have a solo movie without some fanboy screaming "WHAT? the president is kidnapped IM3 and Captain America didn't show up!! Oh what a shit movie" "OMG the SHIELD show sucks none of the Avengers ever show up"
Arrow can have access to anything except Superman and Batman and thus can give a fanboy a hard on just by hinting at Talia Al Ghul or AMAZO.
Just appreciate what you get- because there was a time when we wouldn't have gotten either show.

Great episode last night. Especially the last 20 minutes! One complaint, this episode needed more Felicity.

@superotherside - Oliver is the only one that doesn't want to kill. Everyone else actually realizes that they are fighting for their lives... Lol

This show is was great this week... Agents of Shield was really good this week... Tomorrow People was better than both! Talk about a show coming out of nowhere. No famous characters or actor, the show just hits it hard every week from episode 1. If you guys haven't watched it, you're missing out on a great show.
MoonDoggyX
MoonDoggyX - 11/7/2013, 5:19 AM
@thebaroness - that's a good point with IM3! I know you didn't mean it as much, but those are valid complaints. Especially about Shield not showing up when tony was believed dead or the president was kidnapped. They were a big part in every other movie except TIH. So, they show when he's dying in im2, but not when he's dead in im3...? Having the excuse that the show is shackled by the MCU does not make it any better. There's literally hundreds of marvel characters that will never end up on film, why not use them??? They could really use this show to expand and fill out the MCU, but haven't. I know its only 6 episodes in and thil last one was pretty damn good so I'll keep watching. However, the show doesn't seam to be going anywhere fast ore building up to any more characters involved. All of the arcs going right now are character development for the 6 team members. That's cool and all, but how about some world development, also...?

Love that they're introducing such a host of badass women like Huntress, surrogate Oracle Felicity, Black Canary, and now a Talia Al Ghul reference.. I'm sure we'll see Lady Shiva (Shado or what's her name?) at some point.

Wish we can get rid of Laurel and keep Sarah as the true Canary. Sarah's just much better than Laurel and I don't get annoyed everytime she opens her mouth.

On topic, this episode was great! Can't wait to see how the League ties into the rest of the season.

I'm pretty sure the last time we saw Slade was when he was on fire after running after Oliver. Maybe he feels like it's Oliver's fault he is a burnt mess now and will blame him for it and seek revenge. There has to be a flashback of a time where Oliver, Slade and Sarah were together though.

@CaptShipwreck Apples and oranges. I watch both, but the network viewership isn't even close.
ABC brings is 8.9 million viewers to their network, CW brings in 1.8 million. In terms of their viewership, Arrow is a hit.
Quit being butt-hurt about it. Enjoy that we are getting these comic book shows right now.
