Arrow continues its run as the weak link in the CW's DC TV lineup (currently the lowest-rated superhero series on the network) and while the series is getting a new showrunner next season, it's hard to imagine that even that move will be enough to bring the show back from the bottom of the barrel.

Next week, Oliver (Stephen Amell) squares off with The Dragon (Kirk Acevedo) in a loser leaves town cage match, which doesn't seem like it's going to go all that well for Mr. Queen. Elsewhere, Rene (Rick Gonzalez) gets back to work with New Team Arrow, but it may be a while before he shakes off the rust. Then, finally, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) will uncover a disturbing truth about Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), which threatens to change everything.

Watch the new promo for episode twenty, titled "Shifting Allegiances," below:

"Shifting Allegiances" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

RENE RETURNS TO NTA - Oliver (Stephen Amell) turns to an old friend to help battle Diaz (guest star Kirk Acevedo). Meanwhile, Rene (Rick Gonzalez) is out of the hospital but has a hard time re-adjusting to life as Wild Dog. Also, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) discovers something shocking about Black Siren (Katie Cassidy). Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Rebecca Bellotto (#620). Original airdate 4/26/2018.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. Okay that preview looks way better than anything else they've done in the Season besides Thea's return and the Thanatos Guild storyline. This is what we should have gotten eps ago besides more inside fighting with the team or Oliver vs Diggle.

@NinnesMBC - I can't buy into the idea that Oliver or Diaz would let the other just walk away. Or that a street fight is how Diaz thinks they should settle the score once and for all. I know he's a gang member, but it's a bloody ridiculous idea and it's pretty obvious we're only getting this episode because a fight scene between the two is overdue. Did we get one previously, I can't remember.

@NinnesMBC - Considering the best episodes of the season so far were last week and the Deathstroke ones (especially the first one) at the end of last year...
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 4/19/2018, 9:02 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - More should've been like that then. With Slade at least as S2 big bad we didn't wait till the 20th episode to see Oliver and him go toe to toe.

@TerryTerrapin - Diaz seems to have captured Oliver when he didn't see it coming and is planning on having him all for himself and determine if he will able to able to run the city in a fair fights of fist things. I bet that he has like henchmen waiting outside wherever they are there in case he loses but he really would like to go around saying "I defeated Green Arrow with just these hands in a fair mano-a-mano battle".

But yes the only ridiculous thing is that we've had to wait the entire Season to see the hero square off against the bad guy. It is not even a Black Lightning kind of thing since they faced in the penultimate but we got to see and more of Tobias and his background compared to Diaz. You just don't to this. Kara fought Reign as it is anticipated and the fight delivered and she got her ass handed to her in a manner that made sense in the story, won't even start on all the Flash vs DeVoes encounters (like 3 and a half, first time in mid-Season finale, then in 4x14 and this week, not counting 4x07 when DeVoe came clean with Barry)

Hopefully they don't repeat this ever again in S7.

@NinnesMBC - I would rather them switch it up than to have the same villain story season after season. We had a group of villains until 2/3 of the way through. That's different. And Diaz was introduced early on AND we have seen him confront him before. Diaz is not a personal villain for Oliver like Slade, so it makes more sense to build him up and reveal him as the person pulling the strings, which is exactly what he had been doing.

@HeavyMetal4Life - But that group of villain ended up being wasted and their personal connections with each member of Team Arrow was never fleshed out further because they decided to focus more on making the heroes fight among each other. Diaz waited till the 13th episode to make a move, they should've made him be the leader at least from the beginning instead of focusing on Cayden James. Him getting rid of James as an example of what would happen to those that questioned him would have served to establish him more.

I've felt he's been until now all tell, don't show. That is not a good formula to develop your villain. Even less wait till now to finally make a fight happen with the hero.

@NinnesMBC - What I hate about season six is that season five built up Cayden James as someone who wasn't to be messed with but there was nothing really special about him. Yeah, he was a great computer hacker, but he should have more physical attributes too. I think they made a mistake casting David Emerson. He should have been younger and tougher.

Pretty good episode. Well done, nice to get an episode centered around the villain. Kirk Acevedo did a good job tonight, this episode firmly cemented him as a compelling villain. Not a great episode, like last week, but well done. The rest of the season should be very good.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 4/19/2018, 8:19 PM
So far this week:

1. Black Lightning (very good)
2. The Flash (very good)
3. Arrow (pretty good)
4. Gotham (good)
5. Supergirl (okay)
6. Legion ("wtf")

For me, the top 3 are all somewhat close and could be flipped around with repeated viewings. Black Lightning really upset me with the jarring shift in tone in the last few minutes, it's the only episode of the top 3 that did something I really didn't like. But I felt the rest of the episode made up for that. Flash was an all around pretty strong episode (3rd best of the season) with some great fights, great visuals, and great character moments. Arrow was a much more serious episode that was well done overall with a great performance from Acevedo; while it was overall the most consistent episode of the 3, it didn't push into the "wow, that's awesome" territory, hence placing it at #3.

Good episode right up until we see oliver, stephen Amell is such a bad actor and makes Green Arrow seem like such a crap character
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 4/19/2018, 11:20 PM
The subplot should have been what Oliver was up to instead of focusing on Felicity and Curtis again and their hack business, barely any Oliver in this. Sucks as well how they never decided to actually make Curtis become something that resembles the Mr. Terrific from the comics.

Finally enjoying these last few episodes. This season took way too long to pick up. Makes you wonder why they even bothered with the whole Cayden James subplot in the beginning.
