ARROW Season Two 23 Episodes Long

Writers for The CW's Arrow are back in production, teasing another 23 episode long season. Also, Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim looks ahead to Season Two as Oliver transforms from vigilante to hero.

It appears that the second season of The CW's Arrow will be another 23 episode order. As evidenced above, the show's writers just reassembled to begin work on the next season. From ComicBookMovie's exclusive interview with Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg, we know that the second season will feature Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) taking on a new mission and moving away from 'The Hood' moniker while tweaking his costume and acquiring new crime-fighting gear. Filming set to begin this July.

This Wednesday, a new digital comic book, the first in a two-part series, will be released which bridges the gap between Season One and Season Two. Here's what the books writer and fellow Executive Producer of the show Marc Guggenheim had to say about Arrow moving forward into the second season. "In the digital comic there's a moment we'll look back on as the very last time Oliver was the vigilante," said Guggenheim. He continued, "Season 2 is all about him going from vigilante to being a hero. There really is a difference. Especially in comics, we tend to use those words interchangeably, but Season 2 really spells out the difference between what it means to be a vigilante and what it means to be a hero," the EP stated on Oliver's next adventure. "That's something we grab by the throat and don't let go of starting in episode 1 of Season 2. The digital comic presents the final, final moment of Oliver truly taking the law into his own hands and being judge, jury and executioner as opposed to being a more inspirational figure in the form of a hero," wrapped up Guggenheim, which sounds like Oliver will be moving away from killing his targets and instead, turn them over to the proper authorities. An interesting topic and I think the correct route to take the character but the show will always have to acknowledge the events of the first season where Oliver racked up a rather large body count. No matter how big of a hero he becomes on the show, he'll always have those actions hanging over his head both legally and amongst his peers (hopefully superhero peers).

And in case you missed it the first time, here's my exclusive interview with Executive Producer A.J. Kreisberg where we touch on a few Season Two topics.

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

There is no need for Red Arrow this soon. Let that character build-up for it. Give us some Diggle centric episodes with him taking down his own villains without the help of Green Arrow.

Being Jon Barrowman back and let us see his character turn into the martial artist badass with his traing he got from Nanda Parbet

I would like to see Red Hood played by Jensen Ackles. That would be great, the only downside is if they do that, they will most likely have to change his backstory.

I can't wait for more island flashbacks. I want to see Ollie train from "just learned to hit something with an arrow" into the "complete badass fighter (except when fighting the Dark Archer)" we saw throughout season 1.
