DEADSHOT "Off The Table" According To ARROW Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim

With Deadshot being SPOILER near the end of last Wednesday's episode of Arrow, many fans believed the character would make a return next season, but now that doesn't seem to be the case as Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim has said Deadshot it "off the table". Check it out!

After the events that took place in the ending of this past Wednesday's Arrow, many fans speculated that the character of Floyd Lawton/Deadshot (Michael Rowe) would likely be coming back next season with a significant role due to the episode setting up the orginization H.I.V.E.. Now it seems that won't be the case as Arrow executive producer, Marc Guggenheim, was asked on his official tumblr whether there was a chance that Floyd Lawton/Deadshot would be a regular next season to which he responded with: "Unfortunately, Deadshot is off the table for the nonce". It now seems that the reason the events with Deadshot took place in this past Wednesday's episode are indeed what many fans speculated: Warner Bros. told the CW to pull the plug on Arrow's Deadshot as they have plans for him in David Ayer's Suicide Squad film.

While this news is pretty disappointing because it seemed like Deadshot would have played a significant part in the season four story arc. This also brings up a lot of questions as to how the DC cinematic universe will affect the CW's DC universe. Will characters that the CW has used like Slade Wilson/Deathstroke (Manu Bennet) and Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang (Nick E. Tarabay) be off limits now due to the film versions? Will the eventual movie based on The Flash affect the CW's television series? Only time will tell.

So what do you guys think? Do you think Warner Bros. should let the CW have some free reign? Do you prefer that Warner Bros. can intervene with the show due to plans on film side of things? Will this eventually affect The Flash television series? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

I really hope the films dont influence the shows, wasnt that the point of keeping the universes separate?

This is so stupid. Just because the characters will be used for the big screen, shouldn't make them unavailable for the TV universe. Plus like 1% or less of the people who see the movies actually watch Arrow/Flash/etc. so what's the big deal

Confusing....first we were told its separate universes so there would be a TV and movie version of the same character. Now its seems that is not the case maybe?

[frick] you, DCU. Deadshot was awesome on Arrow. He was the best part of this week's episode.

I'm not a fan of the character, but this is just odd. Deadshot has been here since season 1 and you can't really have the Squad without him.

Will Smith probably complained

[frick] this. You really think people would mistake this slinky white guy for Will Smith? That's like saying people will mistake Chris Evans for Michael B Jordan. [frick] WB is retarded. Why can they pull the plug on Deadshot, yet leave Gotham alone and develop a Supergirl show that's confirmed to have Superman in it? They gonna cancel The Flash soon now? [frick] WB is retarded.

So... what? Will Captain Boomerang be killed off? What about Deathstroke? What about Waller? The list goes on and on! There are so many characters in the Arrowverse that will be in the DCCU. It's not fair to the fans.

So are they going to cancel that wonderful, perfect Flash series, because the Flash is going to have a movie? It only logically follows. Oh, wait, there's no logic to DC. Where's my Frak DC autograph from RDJ?

We're talking about the company that canceled Young Justice. It's only natural that they follow up their destruction of the best animated comic book show in nearly a decade by destroying the two best live-action comic book shows ever. They don't know how to keep a good thing. This is one of those situations where rich corporate pricks don't give a damn about their fans. Capitalism at its finest.

if they cancel The Flash series because of the movie I'm going to be SO pissed, specially since Grant Gustin is a better Flash than Ezra Miller could ever be (no, I'm not cutting that casting choice any slack, f*ck that casting).

I am all for the separate universes, in fact I was against those who wanted Arrow and Flash(CW's version) in the DCCU, but if this means that the DCCU is still going to influence the television series anyways, then they should have just [frick]ing connected them. The whole reason I wanted them separate was one, they were an already established universe which obviously had nothing to do with the DCCU, so the connection would feel force, and second, the movies would force the shows to play by their rules, which would limit them, which is being done anyways. AoS did find it's footing in the same situation but the show was built to work around the MCU unlike Arrow and Flash, so this is indeed a shit situation.

Just swap his alias with another comic character, that's how they handled Blue Beetle The Atom.

Not cutting it slack is one thing, but saying a non existent performance is inferior to an existing one seems stupid.
Emblemmaniac
Emblemmaniac - 3/27/2015, 12:19 PM
While i am glad that they did not connect the universes, ehm... was it not the point with not connecting so the shows could tell the stories they wanted, and the movies could tell the stories they wanted and so forth and if so why "pull the plugg" for some of the charachter on the shpw? (and this is from someone that does not even like Arrows version of the Squad)

Damn DCCU like: "ayyyyy CW universe, you're our BITCH" Lol
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 3/27/2015, 12:25 PM
and what's the point of having two universes when you can't use the same character in both? or is it some rights thing?

@ekrolo2

Agreed. It reminds me of when Bale wast cast as Batman. I don't know how many sites i saw that was spammed with messages like "Warner Brothers is [frick]ing stupid to not cast Keaton again" and look what happen when Ben Affleck was cast, simular situation but with people wanting Bale instead

You guys do know that the CW is also receiving plenty of characters right?

Off topic but the trailer will happen before Fall. DC is actually going to release a collection of Batman/Superman clashes and its titled Batman v Superman.

"nonce" means for the time being, at no point did Marc Guggenheim say Deadshot wasn't going to be used ever again...

This is a perfect example of people being so quick to find reason to crap on DC/WB.

Look, it's one character. The flash is safe (for now). Deadshot is one thing, dont mistake that. Plus, they gave him a great ending...

Sure, because Will Smith really cares what a actor/character who appears in like 3 episodes out of a 23 episode season does or doesn't do.

I had a bad feeling the WB would be putting pressure on the CW television show to limit their access to characters. Afterall, Deadshot is being portrayed by Will Smith -and that's the ONLY version WB wants the audience to identify with playing the character.

I think the bigger problem will arise when Ezra Miller's Flash starts to get promoted as the movie version. By then Grant Gustin's Flash will have done several seasons before the movies release. There are going to be a lot of people that identity Grant's Flash as the one-and-only Flash. The WB is going to have some difficulty competing against the television version.

WB putting its foot down with Deadshot is perhaps a preemptive strike to Greg Berlanti's television team to not allow it happen with another character.
