Yesterday, we learned that The CW will kick off its October programming in January as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and while Supergirl has been pushed back to May due to star Melissa Benoist's pregnancy, Superman & Lois will premiere in the New Year. There was no mention at all of Arrow spinoff Green Arrow and the Canaries, though.
During a call with reporters to discuss The CW's lineup, network President Mark Pedowitz mentioned that the series is "very much alive" and that there are "active discussions" about it being ordered to series. However, he didn't get any more specific than that.
With ongoing world events, it's no great surprise that The CW isn't committing to another show, and Pedowitz even mentioned that other projects, such as Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene, being renewed will depend on streaming numbers. Like most film and TV studios, the network is clearly looking to save money, and that could mean bad news for Green Arrow and the Canaries.
Right now, the soonest we expect to see it is next October.
On the plus side, there's still plenty of great DC content to look forward to on The CW, including The Flash, Batwoman, and Black Lightning, all of which are set to return in 2021. As of right now, there's still no word on plans for time-travel series Legends of Tomorrow.
Are you hoping to see more of Green Arrow and the Canaries in the Arrowverse moving forward?
