GREEN ARROW AND THE CANARIES Said To Still Be "Very Much Alive" At The CW Despite No Series Order

Green Arrow and the Canaries wasn't among the shows ordered for The CW's 2020/2021 season, but the network's President, Mark Pedowitz, has dismissed the notion that the Arrow spinoff has been scrapped...

Yesterday, we learned that The CW will kick off its October programming in January as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and while Supergirl has been pushed back to May due to star Melissa Benoist's pregnancy, Superman & Lois will premiere in the New Year. There was no mention at all of Arrow spinoff Green Arrow and the Canaries, though.

During a call with reporters to discuss The CW's lineup, network President Mark Pedowitz mentioned that the series is "very much alive" and that there are "active discussions" about it being ordered to series. However, he didn't get any more specific than that.

With ongoing world events, it's no great surprise that The CW isn't committing to another show, and Pedowitz even mentioned that other projects, such as Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene, being renewed will depend on streaming numbers. Like most film and TV studios, the network is clearly looking to save money, and that could mean bad news for Green Arrow and the Canaries

Right now, the soonest we expect to see it is next October.

On the plus side, there's still plenty of great DC content to look forward to on The CW, including The Flash, Batwoman, and Black Lightning, all of which are set to return in 2021. As of right now, there's still no word on plans for time-travel series Legends of Tomorrow

Are you hoping to see more of Green Arrow and the Canaries in the Arrowverse moving forward?

I'm guessing it was going to be considered for midseason release before COVID shut everything down.

I hope they pick it up. It sucks that so much is up in the air and all these great plans have been messed up.

If it never happens I’ll live... I prefer more content on DC Universe anyway

Hopefully it will happen. I like the Arrowverse despite its many faults. I miss the main Arrow show but I understand why Amell was tired of it, Canaries could be a good substitute.

No thank you, that back door pilot was a hot mess and I wasn't interested in seeing where the story went after I finished watching.

The pilot door in Arrow's penultimate episode was average but it has some potential I suppose. If it does get picked up I wish it turns out that the 9th Circle are still active and are the villains for Mia and the Canaries to deal with. While Oliver managed to get rid of most crime in the present with his sacrifice it felt like a waste that the organization was quickly handled, just like that.

And who knows, maybe if a future set show like this works it could motivate them more to later make another one but focused on the Legion of Super-Heroes.
