PUNISHER: WAR ZONE's Lexi Alexander To Direct An Episode of ARROW

Lexi Alexander is often suggested for various comic book movies by fans after she delivered arguably the definitive take on Frank Castle in Punisher: War Zone, but it appears as she'll lend her talents to the small screen for now as she tackles an episode of Arrow's fourth season...

Earlier today, Punisher: War Zone and Green Street Hooligans director Lexi Alexander was talking to fans on Twitter in a quick Q&A, and she made a surprising reveal when one of them asked if Marvel have been in touch to ask her to direct one of their shows on online streaming service Netflix. "They have not. But I’m excited to direct Arrow in August. ;-)" Whoa, that's pretty exciting news!

After the amazing second season, Arrow's third run of episodes was a little disappointing. There were no doubt more good ones than bad, but the overall Ra's al Ghul storyline definitely fell flat, as did the finale. Alexander taking charge of an upcoming instalment of The CW drama should result in something great, and definitely gives us all something to look forward to later this year...

Very cool. Wonder what she will bring to the series.

And....August....perhaps the third or fourth episode of S4?

@CaptShipwreck

Exactly. Whenever I talk about the worst comic films ever made, Warzone always comes up. Most people don't even know or remember it.

War zone wasn't that bad.

I don't blame her for Punisher: War Zone, but I do blame the writers.

The Punisher's best stories are when he is shown as more than just a killing machine.

The Punisher TV show (if it's happening) should take inspiration from those kind of stories.

I don't think she was right for The Punisher. She thought the skull was "pre-schoolish"

Warzone was worth it alone for getting to see that parkour douchebag getting nuked by a rocket launcher.
Also ray was a great Castle.

Hopefully if that episode is [frick]ing awesome, it'll give the damn writers the kick in the ass they so desperately need.

The short was better than all of Punisher: War Zone:

To be fair, it was better than the 2004 Punisher movie too (my favorite Punisher movie).

Even though the story wasn't great, Ray Stevenson made a great Frank. I've enjoyed both him & Thomas Jane in the Frank roles so hope that the next person cast (For hopefully a Netflix series) is just as good & brings gravitas to the role. Otherwise I'd bring either Ray or Thomas back to reprise.

This is cool news. Hopefully Michelle Maclaren will be next. Seeing what these gals can do with Green Arrow will be and could be great.

I don't hate War Zone. I don't really particularly love it either but there are a lot of comic book movie adaptations that are way worse. But a Netflix show could easily be the definitive live-action version of The Punisher.

Kevin Tsujihara: Alright everyone...start naming female directors for Wonder Woman.

Jim Lee: Kathryn Bigalow.

Kevin Tsujihara: She thumbed her nose at comic book films on Bill Maher. Who else?

Zack Snyder: Lexi Alexander?

Kevin Tsujihara: Who is she?

Geoff Johns: She directed Punisher War Zone.

Kevin Tsujihara: Jesus. You would suggest her Zack.

Zack Snyder: I was just spit-balling.

Kevin Tsujihara: Shut up Zack. Lexi Alexander? F-ckin' Christ. Maybe for an episode of Arrow, but not Wonder Woman.

Greg Silverman: I'll get Greg Berlanti on the phone now.

Kevin Tsujihara: I wasn't saying...*sigh*...go ahead. It doesn't matter. Keep her away from Flash though.

Warzone inspired Daredevil in cinematography tone, and occasionally shot by shot. Say whatever you want, Lexi helped shape one of the most critically acclaimed shows on this site and of this year.

Also, Lexi is going to kick ass with her Arrow episode. Mark my words

I just think it's funny to say "jimmies are being rustled."

@mgeoff88 Absolutely, Thomas Jane got it right. I loved the original Jane movie, but Dirty Laundry was just right.

Its network TV. Her episode wont be any different then any of the other ones. Producers have the power not directors.
