The CW has released a second clip from tonight's season four premiere of Arrow, and this one features Black Canary teaming up with Speedy; however, it turns out that she'd much rather go by "Red Arrow"! We also get a very cool Blue Beetle Easter Egg in the footage...

I like that they brought Thea into Team Arrow and now I'd much rather Team Arrow be just Black Canary, Ollie, and Speedy. We don't need Diggle anymore, he has a family and he should stop. We don't need Felicity either.

So they're allowed to use Kord Industries but not Ted Kord. Interesting, especially after that Fortune article. Still laughably bad, though. Arrow just needs a new vision. Next to Flash and AOS it doesn't seem to have a firm grasp on where it should go.

I thought Season 4 would have marked a change in tone. Not necessarily lighter, but without all the baggage of the past. That baggage is still there, and it's just as boring. Arrow needs to shed a lot of that stuff, and I think they could do it, if they got rid of Lance and maybe Diggle as well. The show needs to be a lot sleeker, and a lot simpler. This is Green Arrow we're talking about, not Batman and not Constantine.

Damien Darkh and HIVE are a good fit for Green Arrow, but Arrow's tone really keeps them from feeling right. I'm not talking about the Batman Begins tone, but the depressed, mopey tone. Every single one of Arrow's characters complains about something ALL THE TIME. Lance complained about Arrow, Felicity complained about Oliver, Laurel complained about Lance, Thea complained about Merlin, and now Diggle complains about Oliver. This doesn't make for good television.
