The first trailer and a new poster for DMZ are now online.

The HBO Max limited series is set to premiere on March 17, and stars Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, Sin City) as a medic named Alma Ortega who enters the dangerous landscape of the near-future Manhattan, which has become a treacherous demilitarized zone. Alma is searching for her son, who disappeared during the evacuation of New York.

The 4-part series is an adaptation of the DC Comic of the same name, and has Ava DuVernay on board as director and producer alongside Westworld executive producer Robert Patino.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

In the near future, America is embroiled in a bitter civil war, leaving Manhattan a demilitarized zone (DMZ), destroyed and isolated from the rest of the world. Leaping off the pages of the popular comic, “DMZ” chronicles the harrowing journey of fearless and fierce medic Alma Ortega (series star Rosario Dawson), who sets out on a harrowing journey to find the son she lost in the evacuation of New York City at the onset of the conflict. Throwing gasoline on the flames of that conflict is Parco Delgado (series star Benjamin Bratt), the popular — and deadly — leader of one of the most powerful gangs in the DMZ. He wants to rule this new world — and will stop at nothing to secure that outcome. In this adrenalized and expansive drama that examines a stark political and cultural divide in American society, Alma must contend with the gangs, militias, demagogues, and warlords that control this lawless no man’s land. In doing so, she becomes the unlikely source of what everyone here has lost: hope.

@dracula - Gonna be a busy couple of years for Rosario. Everyone talks about Danny Rand, but I wouldn't mind her or Simone Missick coming back. Even if it is ultimately for something else.

Yep. Thats how you know the DCEU is dead. Wasting resources on side books and limited series when characters like GL is going ignored

@Dope21 - A Green lantern show is happening, they have even cast several roles

Pretty sure this is quicker to make than a cgi heavy green lantern show

@dracula - still wasted resources. DC core universe is to big to making shows like these now. DC failed

@Dope21 - no point in delaying smaller projects just because bigger ones arent ready

@dracula - Last I checked they've only cast Guy Gardner. But I am not liking the rumors that it will have a Watchmen type of tone.

Getting Y The Last Man (TV) and The Last Of Us vibes.

Also looks like another expensive misfire.

@TheDoctor1225 - Very interesting, I would do it animated to better translate the world and the violence and evade having the Kratos actor stand alone in a green screen sound stage for 95% of the show.
I hope they read up on the book adaptations of the 1st 2 games because they are their best shot at getting a good show out of the games. Focusing on the games and then try to work their way out from them could end in disaster.

The 4-part series is a very loose adaptation of the DC Comic of the same name

Haven't even seen it but I'm pretty sure I just fixed that description for you.

I've read all of DMZ and loved it. BUT this isn't DMZ.

I'm so disappointed.

How on earth does Rosario Dawson have time for all the things she’s in? 😂
