GOTHAM Reveals A First Official Look At Cameron Monaghan's JOKER And He's Absolutely Terrifying

Gotham has definitely taken a unique approach to The Joker's origin story over the past few years, and that will finally culminate with the upcoming two-part series finale. Jumping ahead into the future, we'll not only meet Batman but, as the video below makes clear, The Joker will also emerge from Arkham Asylum.

After taking that dip in acid in Ace Chemicals, the Clown Prince of Crime has been left horribly disfigured, but despite the lack of a full head of green hair, he looks 100% Joker.

There are, in fact, some fans who praise Cameron Monaghan as one of the all-time great Jokers so it will be a lot of fun to see him truly unleash in these final episodes. Plot details are a closely guarded, but it definitely appears as if his return will be the focal point here as The Batman makes his presence felt in Gotham City and awakens his greatest foe in the process.

Very much looking forward to seeing Cameron bring Mr. J to life. He's already given us two of the three best live action Jokers so far, I have no doubt he will give us another with Mr. J.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Cameron is the best thing about Gotham as a whole.

I tried to get you this article earlier, tried to get you a few before too.

The poster itself though looks really weird and, imo not very good, it doesn't even look like Mr J from the footage! Reminds me of The Creeper if he was white-skinned and had a little hair...

@HeavyMetal4Life - it's his face below his bottom lip that's weird to me in the promo image. Reminds me of that Goosebunps doll.

@MrCamw1 - yeah that is part of the issue, but it just looks nothing like Cameron or the promo footage. Seriously, it looks like a white version of the Creeper!

Been trying to get someone to make this article for hours. Thanks Josh.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I'm now realizing his skin tone in Arkham is normal. So did Jeremiah paint his face before and he will paint his face again in the finale, or did the dip in the Ace chemicals vat fix his pigmentation and now he has to paint his face? I'm confused.

I like how this Joker has some Crypt Keeper to him.

It's a shame that we will never see the full-on Joker on the show. Even this "Mr. J" in the finale is just another pre-version of the Joker that's decrepit and balding, which the showrunner explained in this interview:

"We all know the character that some people think he is, some people say he's not--that he's supposed to be a precursor to at the very least. So, when you look at the Joker, and you break down elements of his personality, and you cleave off certain character traits. Some of those character traits we gave to Jerome. Some to Jeremiah. I feel like Cameron's character, in all the iterations of the characters that he played Jerome, Jeremiah, and the new character that no one has seen yet that he plays this season if he's not The Joker, then he's someone who does provide the origin story for the person who you're going to see later on."

So basically, this is the final version of the Joker, right before he becomes the Joker. Sigh

The beginning of the trailer reminds me of The Dark Knight Returns.

@Repian - Apparently, that's the inspiration. He's a vegetable in Arkham and news footage of new vigilante "The Batman" shakes him out of it.
