GOTHAM Season 4 San Diego Comic-Con Poster Teases Bruce Wayne's Eventual Transformation Into BATMAN

Our first look at some official key art for the upcoming fourth season of FOX's Gotham (which will seemingly be subtitled "Dawn of Night") features Bruce Wayne in a very Batman-like pose. Take a look...

Will the next season of Gotham see young Bruce Wayne begin his final journey towards taking up the mantle of Batman? That's certainly what this new season 4 poster and subtitle seem to suggest, anyway.

The key art, which will be made available to SDCC attendees at the Fox Booth #4229, features Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) watching over his city while his coattails flap in the wind behind him, clearly signifying his eventual ascension into The Dark Knight.

Might we actually see Bruce suit-up as soon as season 4? The character is obviously far too young, but would you really put it past this show?

Check out the poster below and let us know what you think in the usual place.

@Lostcause - Yes, his coat flapping behind him like that is in no way shape or form supposed to represent a cape.

@RorMachine - You know what else did this? Phantom Menace's poster. You know, the one that had Anakin's shadow be that of Vader? Yeah, Anakin didn't become that character until around 15 years later in his life. This Gotham poster doesn't mean anything.

@GAThrawnIGF - But nevertheless Anakin did become Vader eventually. This poster is merely teasing Bruce eventually becoming Batman. It's not meant to imply he will become Batman this season.

Is this still worth watching? Stopped in season 2, but I hope I can make myself watch it again

@malsemarcel - Yes! Season 2 and season 3 was great. So much fun.

@malsemarcel - the show has just gotten better Season 3 was amazing

@malsemarcel - Just watch it for funm as it is its own story in its own universe, and maybe paying some sort of homage to the sillyness to Batman TV shows. If you take it seriously is not worth to watch.

@malsemarcel - I look at this show like its canon to the Joel Schumacher movies. So it's more funny to watch with all the hammy acting

@malsemarcel - I thought I was the only one who couldn't get into this show. I didn't even finish season 1...
Nightwing1015

@Kevwebsz - I don't understand why people always liken Gotham to the 60s show or Schumacher's Batman. The show is extremely dark and violent. It's over the top sometimes but not in a campy way.

@Kevwebsz - I'd say much closer to the Tim Burton movies. People forget that yes, they were dark and cool, but they also had some camp too. Gotham can be really violent but also intentionally campy which fits the Burton U better. And I love that they actually have Bruce training to become Batman now. It takes years to reach that level of skill.

I love the seasonal and mid-seasonal themes they have.

"Might we actually see Bruce suit-up as soon as season 4? The character is obviously far too young, but would you really put it past this show?"

Also, was this snide really necessary? Me thinks they know EXACTLY what they're doing.

@Supafairy - I think it's fair. WOULD you be surprised if Bruce became Batman next season after every liberty they've already taken with the mythology?
Supafairy
Supafairy - 7/18/2017, 12:34 PM
@RorMachine - I wouldn't IF they do it right. Somehow I don't think that'll happen. I love Gotham, I love what they've done with the characters so any decision they make I'm ok with.
AlternateNo4
AlternateNo4 - 7/18/2017, 12:36 PM
@RorMachine - Nope! But I think it should be recognized that those of us that still watch and enjoy the show have made peace with its Elseworldyness, so "would you really put it past this show" isn't the attitude we'd take. Since this is clearly wayyyy off canon, I'd be happy to see him go full Batman!
AlternateNo4
AlternateNo4 - 7/18/2017, 12:39 PM
@AlternateNo4 - The problem they have is that they can't have him go on a learning-to-fight world tour because the show is about what happens IN Gotham. Plus he doesn't need to get inspiration from the LOA or anything because he's already dealt with all kinds of villainy. He already knows what he wants to do.
Nightmare
Nightmare - 7/18/2017, 12:21 PM
What a great premise for a show: Young James Gordon fights half of Batman's villains, who are already grown up, while the other half are friends with lil Brucie.

dracula
dracula - 7/18/2017, 12:33 PM
@Nightmare - he is only friends with Selina, he only knows ivy because she is Selina's friend, everyone else Bruce has had only a few scenes with.
GAThrawnIGF
GAThrawnIGF - 7/18/2017, 2:18 PM
@Nightmare - And? Penguin, Ra's al Ghul, Joker (to an extent), Catwoman, Solomon Grundy (who they basically confirmed during season 3), Black Mask (who hasn't been on the show yet), and Hugo Strange all existed before Batman. And they did something clever by having Scarecrow be the father of Jonathan Crane. You could also argue whether Riddler was a criminal before Batman or not, given how his first appearance was in 1948 and each year of the comics was just a month in real time.

dracula
dracula - 7/18/2017, 2:45 PM
@Kevwebsz - he was 12 or 13 at the beginning of the show, and he usually ages a year in each season, by the end of season 1 he was 13 or 14, season 2 he would have been 15, season 3 he turned 16.

Kid is still tiny. Lift.

My wife and I cut it off during season two when it started to get lame and the Penguin and Riddler started the queer shit. We stopped watching. We've heard that it eventually got back on track (somewhat) maybe it's true. Maybe not...
