The series follows one cop, destined for greatness, as he navigates a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the rise of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes. The entirely new, untold chapter comes from executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”) and stars Ben McKenzie (“Southland,” “The O.C.”), Donal Logue (“Vikings,” “Sons of Anarchy”) and Jada Pinkett Smith (“Hawthorne,” “Collateral”).

Gotham kicks off Monday, September 22.

If they focus more on the James Gordon perspective this show could be really interesting.

This show is focusing on Gordon right? Cause that's what I've been seeing yet I see people calling this the next smallville? I don't see that, I see this as a show that revolves around GPD, in particular James Gordon

Gotham without Costumed crime and crimefighters is like alcohol-free beer. If you need it, you might have a problem.

The thing I like about this is that the show will cover the origins of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman, much like Smallville did for Clark Kent becoming Superman, but it's primary focus is on Jim Gordon being the last good cop in Gotham, as well as the city dissolving into the Gotham City that we all know from the Batman comics. From what I've seen and heard thus far, it sounds like they're taking elements from "Earth One", "Year One", "Gotham Central", and even"Zero Year". This makes for some awesome television, I can't wait to see this version of the Batman legend get started!

Love it. Cant wait! I think some fanboys are upset cause it isnt a "true comic book show", but thats the point. This is Law and Order set in the comic book Gotham. Its gonna be sweet.

Yeah some of the fanboys are just being petty at this point. At first I did not like the concept of this show, but I realized I love Law and Order type of shows and throw in Gotham characters that will soon be villains of Batman. Yup I am sold! Plus the reactions from other fans and average joes who got to see the pilot are all positive.

Plus we will never ever get a major motion picture showing a lot of these baddies plus exploring who they are etc.........

You guys hear about the proctologist that was performing a procedure ?

He's working on the patient and the nurse hands him a beer.
Momentarily puzzled - he looks at the can and yells at the nurse:

"I said 'HAND ME THE BUTT LIGHT!' "

I really didn't know what to expect from this, show, but the pilot was pretty good. I think it can be pretty decent show. Its more dick Tracy than batman, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
