THE BOYS Star Jensen Ackles Wants To Play Batman In Live-Action; Suggests GOTHAM KNIGHTS Cameo

Jensen Ackles lent his voice to the Dark Knight in Batman: The Long Halloween, but the Supernatural alum has now expressed his hope to suit up as the iconic DC Comics superhero in a live-action setting.

Jensen Ackles was once a fan-favourite suggestion for the role of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with Supernatural now in his rearview, the actor is looking to make an impact in the world of superheroes. Following his well-received turn as the Caped Crusader in Batman: The Long Halloween, Ackles will next be seen as Soldier Boy in season 3 of The Boys

Over the weekend, Ackles appeared at Creation Entertainment's Supernatural Convention in New Jersey, and one fan asked who he would like to play in the Batman Universe. His old co-star Misha Collins will play Harvey Dent in The CW's Gotham Knights, of course, while Ackles has cosplayed as Red Hood after previously voicing the anti-hero in the Under the Red Hood animated movie.

Looking to the future, Ackles is setting his sights high. "Batman," he immediately responded. "Let's be clear about that. I have gotten to do the voice, why not get to play the Bat? Maybe someone at Gotham Knights can put in a good word for me if that role ever comes up."

Unfortunately, Batman isn't expected to factor into that series much as it's set to follow a group of young superheroes in the wake of the Dark Knight's demise. Ackles could always make a cameo appearance, but he's actually developing another DC property with Warner Bros. and Greg Berlanti. We don't know what that is, but there have been rumblings that it might be a Green Arrow feature.
