The Legends of Tomorrow are about to find themselves in a classic monster movie when they travel to 1951 Tokyo to capture a giant octopus, but they definitely have their work cut out for them with John Constantine (Matt Ryan) temporarily sidelined after the events of tonight's episode.

While Sara (Caity Lotz), Zari (Tala Ashe), Rory (Dominic Purcell), and Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) work on the monster octopus problem, Ray (Brandon Routh) will attempt something a bit unorthodox to get Constantine back on his feet. Meanwhile, Nate (Nick Zano) will invite Ava (Jes Macallan) over to his home for Thanksgiving dinner, which should be great fun.

"Tagumo Attacks!!!" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, DLV) (HDTV)

SOMETHING'S FISHY - A new fugitive is on the loose in 1951 Tokyo and Sara (Caity Lotz), Zari (Tala Ashe), Rory (Dominic Purcell) and Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) try to capture it. As Constantine (Matt Ryan) struggles to recover, Ray (Brandon Routh) knows that magic might be the only thing that can save him but must look outside the team for help. Meanwhile, Ava (Jes Macallan) joins Nate (Nick Zano) and his family for an unconventional Thanksgiving dinner. Courtney Ford and Ramona Young also star. Lexi La Roche directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Ubah Mohamed wrote the episode (#405). Original airdate 11/19/2018.

After defeating the demon Mallus by cuddling him to death with a giant stuffed animal named Beebo, the Legends are ready to ease off the gas. Sara and her team join Ava Sharpe and the Time Bureau to help clean up the last few remaining anachronisms. The job seems straightforward enough until Constantine arrives to inform them that, in solving one major problem, they have created another, much larger one. When the Legends let time crumble in order to release and defeat Mallus, the barrier between worlds softened. History is now infected with "Fugitives" - magical creatures from myths, fairytales, and legends. Having been expelled throughout time by people like Constantine, these Fugitives are now returning to our world in droves and making a real mess of things. As the Time Bureau is distrustful of and ill-equipped to deal with magic, the Legends must team up with everyone's favorite demonologist to set history back on track.

Legends Of Tomorrow features:
Brandon Routh as Dr. Ray Palmer/The Atom
Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary

A good episode. I still feel like most of these early season 4 Legends episodes are a bit conservative and held back. I want to see more magic from Constantine, and I want to see threats that more up his ally. Darker, more violent magical creatures. Tonight's creature certainly was more in line with that, though it was a bit of a shame that we didn't see the creature in its 'final' form for more of the episode.

Some good humor in this episode, especially with John and Ray. I think the writers also used this episode to show why Ava doesn't join the Legends more in the field on their missions; it just isn't really her kind of job. Do like that Charlie has fully accepted her now position as a member of the team, she certainly fits in well with Rory.

Sara and Ava becoming kids was pretty neat, and their take down of the creature. Some sick moves. Nice to give Ava a little bit of a childhood and pick up a storyline from season 3. The Legends writers certainly do a great job with this, addressing stuff that has happened previously in the show, no matter how far back.

It was great to have a couple nods towards Jason Voorhees. Wish we'd had a few more though.

Also, we got two nods to Swamp Thing, with John even saying he knows him up in Maine. Pretty neat.

Once again, John was the best part of the episode. And we learn a little bit more about him each time. We got some references to his past and to previous appearances in the Arrowverse. We got the "on with the show" line from Arrow season 4. We got references to Astra when John said he wasn't going to lose another child. And we also had John saying he had a friend just like Ray who was hurt because of him; could this be Chas?? And what the heck did Constantine have rolled up under his sleeve? I noticed that every time, kept thinking it would be something important that they would reveal. Was it just a pack of cigarettes?

Probably some other stuff I missed, tough to get everything when its on the TV.

* "I happen to know a Swamp Thing, but Maine is too far north for him." correction on my part...

@HeavyMetal4Life - it was definitely a pack of cigarettes mate. Very common spot back to put them back in the day. I feel bad they never let him light one up.

Next week's episode looks fun. Hope we get all the Godzilla jokes.

Also, a bit interesting that Constantine isn't in any of the footage...

@HeavyMetal4Life - It looks like Godzilla--however, due to international copyright law, it's not!

So far this week:

1. Arrow- great
2. Legends- good
3. Supergirl- okay

Up to Flash and Black Lightning to deliver tomorrow night.

This was a much better episode and made me chuckle a few times, specially with how easily Constantine got results with magic tricks to get the summer kids to talk compared to Ray doing things the old fashioned way. Episodes like these where Ray lets his inner child out (well that always happens) tend to affect a bit his intelligence but I think he's softening up Constantine a little when it comes to open up the heart he carries in his trench coat so, it served some purpose.

The opening got me haha. "Swamp Thaaang". Never would've thought Sara used to be a lot into summer camp, brought out a more carefree side of her.

I definitely am starting to think that something or someone(s) from Constantine's past all the way from S1 is gonna be involved in the bigger plot by the way he continues to warn the Legends how he's bad company. I just wanna know what it is going on.

Only thing I found weird was that they killed the creature this time rather than sending it back to Hell. I guess Constantine weakened it enough to allow Ava and Sara to destroy him.

I just realized that since now Maisie Richardson-Sellers is English so her character remaining her accent from UK as "Amaya" makes the job for her easier. I wonder how she is going to help considering her powers are blocked thanks to Constantine.

Next week's magical monster looks like the best one yet, gives me flashbacks of the Leviathan episode. I just hope Nate's subplot doesn't take away too much, I get it is for the upcoming Thanksgiving festivity in RL so it better pay off later into the plot, if not it'll feel like a waste.

@NinnesMBC - Turns out, apart of the reason Nate isnt doing as much so far this season, is he just had a kid, and according to Nick Zano there were complications, so he needs to spend time with his family. Hopefully stuff works out and he starts doing more
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 11/12/2018, 10:14 PM
@dracula - I wasn't aware of that until now, it puts everything BTS into better perspective. I can understand, congrats to Nick Zano and his family in that case!

Still, crossing fingers the Bureau plots become more engaging. I know they can deliver well in that area too if they give their all.

Enjoy while you can. Cancellation is on the horizon:

@Luminus - highly doubt it. They would be canceling one of the top DC shows on TV.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Did you watch that vid? The ratings are way down. You can't call it one of the top DC shows with a ratings decline like that.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 11/13/2018, 4:44 AM
@Luminus - no I don't have time to kill 25 minutes right now.

This is just speculation on their part. No one else right now is reporting that Legends is going to get canceled.

@Luminus - Fortunately this episode gave them a much needed boost in viewership.

https://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/daily-ratings/tv-ratings-monday-nov-12-2018/

They need to keep this up. Personally I think it comes from the fact that it tends to do lean into stuff that isn't fully DC and often ends up feeling like another Doctor Who. For example the Fugitives could be D or C list supernatural creatures from DC's lore or some Hellblazer stuff instead of unicorns and fairy godmothers etc. Plus the members they add to the Waverider besides Constantine aren't much rooted in the pages of the comics. Zari worked, but Charlie? It just seems like an excuse to keep the actress of Amaya instead of actually bringing someone from the comics or heck, even a past recurring character like Jonah Hex (now that Rip is gone) or even Connor Hawke back. Instead we get Charlie and even Nora Darhk, another original character, as new Legends.

That's my opinion on things. But let's be glad last night it was the rating dosis they needed.

Luminus - 11/14/2018, 1:07 AM
@GAThrawnIGF - If the ratings are down, it obviously doesn't possess the quality that you think. The Walking Dead's rating have slipped and all you hear on this site is people blaming it's quality as the culprit.

@NinnesMBC - My problem with the show is the same as you've described. Wasted opportunity. They need to write better time travel stories with real villains, not slapstick nonsense.

I thought they dropped the ball with the plot twist. I liked that they had us thinking the old woman was the witch and then pulling the rug from under us, but once it was clear it wasn't her, there was only one other possible suspect so it kinda ruined the element of surprise.

What I find so annoying about this show is the fact that practically everything in the show is filler. There are so many magical characters from the comics they could use, but instead they choose to use generic magical creatures while recycling magical characters that already exist in the Arrowverse like John Constantine and Nora Darhk. There are so many great cameos they could make.
Also, I would like to see more and better changes to the team roster. I have never been a fan of their version of Isis and how they treat the existing characters is annoying as well. I can't really take any of them seriously. They are like teenagers in adult bodies.
Rant over.

OMG!! A "Colossus, The Forbin Project" reference on this week's Flash! Does ANYBODY besides me remember that movie starring Eric Braeden?
