Supergirl has been on hiatus for a little longer than its three sister shows, but thanks to a Monday timeslot, it'll be the first to return from this lengthy winter break come the week of January 23rd.

The next episode will take Kara & Mon-El away from Earth to a planet known as Slaver's Moon where the duo will re-encounter the elusive Roulette and if that wasn't enough trouble, they'll also find themselves under the influence of a red sun, which means no superpowers to give them any sort of advantage.

Kevin Smith (Clerks), who already has two episodes of The Flash under his belt, helmed this installment, which is titled "Supergirl Lives." His daughter Harley Quinn Smith (Yoga Hosers) will also guest star during the hour.

Check out the latest batch of promotional stills below:

“Supergirl Lives” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)

KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS — Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister. Kevin Smith directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Eric Carrasco & Jess Kardos (#209). Original airdate 1/23/2017.

The hour-long drama centers on Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

This is one of those shows I watch so I don't feel like I'm missing details when all the CW shows crossover. Granted...I think the ONLY CW show I don't feel that way about is Flash.

Man i've been all over Smallville for the past week and its still great. I mean Tom is actually playing the Superman i've always grown up with and read in the comics. Dude pulled off the heart of character perfectly.

I like Kevin and I listen to his Fatman on Batman podcast and Hollywood Babble-On. But I gotta say it, his movies just don't do much for me. He's good when he's subbing in CBTV though, but he also admits the crew and assistant directors do most of the work.

@ElJefe - Yeah...having seen his films as well, I'm not sure how he made it big in Hollywood...but kudos to him.

I'm really sick of Mon-El aka poor man's Superman. The character just doesn't sit well with me. Nothing likeable there.
