SMALLVILLE Star Laura Vandervoort Has Advice For CBS' SUPERGIRL

Last month it was announced that CBS have committed to developing an hour-long drama based on DC Comics' Supergirl. So it makes sense that IGN would want to know what Laura Vandervoort ("Bitten") thought of the news as she played 'Kara' (Supergirl) on CW's long-running series, Smallville. In the interview, which you can view in the video below, the Canadian actress says that whoever plays the role needs to make it their own. She also says that she would be open to making a guest appearing in the series, much like what Smallville did with Dean Cain, Margot Kidder, Helen Slater, and Christopher Reeve.

SUPERGIRL - CBS has given a series commitment to an hour-long drama about Kara Zor-El, the DC Comics heroine who escaped the planet Krypton amid its destruction. Having hid all this time on Earth the powers she shares with “her famous cousin.” 24-year-old Kara decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and “be the hero she was meant to be.” The pilot was penned by Ali Adler ("No Ordinary Family") and Greg Berlanti ("Arrow"), both of whom will exec-produce alongside Sarah Schechter (of Berlanti Productions) and Warner Bros. TV. - TV Line

I'm not all that interested in Supergirl and this show is not for me but i'm sure there are people who are looking forward to this new tv show.

I am curious if Supergirl will be connected to Arrow & Flash or will it be it's own thing?

This has a lot of potential. Especially if they connect it to Arrow/Flash's rumored Justice League. But honestly, they really shouldn't be going for eye candy, before acting ability. Especially with a character who's generally thought of as the female Superman. Even if they have to bend her comic story a bit, make her an interesting character.

WB was foolish NOT to have given SUPERGIRL her own series after Smallville… Laura Vandervoort could've pulled it off.

Missed opportunity.

Here's the one thing that can make Supergirl relevant: she's frvcking terrifying. Superman was raised by a kind old couple in Kansas to be the nicest guy in the world, so we trust him not to snap one day and kill us all. But Supergirl didn't have that. She wakes up one day on a strange planet to learn that everybody she ever knew is dead and she has bonkers new superpowers. Superman had years to deal to with all that before he found he out he fly and crush diamonds in his hands. He's very level-headed, whereas Supergirl is the most psychologically unstable creature on Earth: a traumatized teenage girl who can shoot frickin' lasers from her eyes.

Why are so many people not into a Supergirl TV series? Not enough muscular dudes in spandex?

Swift doesn't have the curves to pull it off. Don't get me wrong she is beautiful, but not built for it.

Interesting read, I'm not sure why we need a 'SuperGirl' TV show I wonder If they will go the 'Smallville' route with this show?

And can someone tell me the big difference between SuperGirl and Superman? They seem like the same character other than the fact that one has a penis and one has a vagina :/
