SUPERGIRL Debuts Her New Suit & Falls Out With Lena In The Season 5 Trailer; Lex Luthor Confirmed To Return

The CW has just released the official trailer for Supergirl season five featuring an awesome shot of Kara's kickass new costume as well as a preview of her inevitable falling out with Lena Luthor.

The CW has released the official trailer for Supergirl season five, previewing what kind of danger awaits Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) this year as she takes on Leviathan and subsequently faces what could be her toughest challenge yet as one of her most trusted friends, Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath), has finally turned on her. 

Additionally, Jon Cryer (Lex Luthor), who is also moderating the panel, has confirmed he'll be back for the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover this fall.

Plus, Meghan Rath (Hawaii Five-0) is joining the series as a female Brainiac-5, Julie Gonzalo (Dodgeball) has been cast as Andrea Rojas, a.k.a. Acrata, and Star Nair (Game of Thrones) will be playing an original character named William Dey.

Season three saw Supergirl stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! Season four promises to be full of surprises, action, adventure and lots of big revelations for Supergirl, Alex, James, J’onn, Lena and Brainy.

Good trailer. I liked Kara's monologue and tbh, she isn't that wrong. Tech can be too much sometimes so I'm interested in the theme of the Season.

Lena is acting petty as I feared. Jeez. I hope she grows up and handles it better.

I like the effect of all the people's eyes changing with that supposed Leviathan tech.

That final scene must be a dream, if Lena hits Kara she should end up with a sore fist. But if not or whatever it is true, we can forget about she making her that new suit considering she is this (butt)hurt.

Also: Julie Gonzalo joins the show as Andrew Rojas aka Acrata who is gonna be a sort of budding hero like Nia. I am just glad she won't be another S1 Cat if she is going to be taking over Catco and replacing Jimmy.

And Staz Nair will play original character William Dey.

Wow. I kinda wanted the big and bad robotic Anti-Monitor but this will still be interesting none the least in how they pull off the execution.

Lena Luthor going villain? ugh i expected more, supergirl, really wanted you guys to make a statement with how someone's birth didn't define their good/evil potential, but i guess just go with the easy route

Given all the build up from Supergirl Season 4, he should honestly be the main villain this season. Hopefully he at least plays a major role with Leviathan.

Jon Cryer was awesome and I like that they played up his intellect. But it was really anticlimactic that Lex Luthor barely appeared last season, and after all that build up, he was defeated and killed after letting all of his plans come down to a fist fight between him and Supergirl.

This is the problem with Lex Luthor's warsuit, even in the comics. It completely undermines his character. He's supposed to be a genius master manipulator, not someone who can be punched. The warsuit was also introduced before his revamp in the late-1980s, so it's pretty much an outdated remnant from another era of comics that got retconned back into continuity by some misguided writer.

Yeah, the people looking down at their phones is a bit on the nose lol.

The new suit looks nice in that image. Could have used it as an opportunity to add yellow behind the S though. Also, it doesn't feel like Supergirl without a skirt.

This was the second best show in the Arrowverse this past season, such a strong season. Can't wait for more of that with season 5!
