SUPERGIRL Recasts Its Vice President With TRON Star Bruce Boxleitner
While Star Trek: TNG star Brent Spiner had previously been cast as the Vice President, it's now being reported that he's had to exit the role and that Tron's Bruce Boxleitner will be his replacement.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that due to a family matter that has resulted in a scheduling conflict, Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation) has vacated his recurring role as Vice President Baker on Supergirl.
Since the VP is expected to play a key role throughout the coming season, The CW has already gone ahead and found Spiner's replacement in fellow veteran actor Bruce Boxleitner (Tron). Further details were unavailable, but the character is being described as adept and politically minded, an unlikely leader who steps up in a big way when his country needs him most.
Since Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) is also reprising her role as President Olivia Marsdin, who is an alien in disguise, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that the VP's introduction may be somehow linked to her secret potentially getting out as the anti-alien agenda gains serious momentum in National City with Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer) leading the charge.
Season three saw Supergirl stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! Season four promises to be full of surprises, action, adventure and lots of big revelations for Supergirl, Alex, James, J’onn, Lena and Brainy.
