Well, Team Supergirl managed to stop both Purity (Krys Marshall) and Pestilence (Angela Zhou), but it looks like they have ways to go (six episodes if I were to wager a guess) before they bring down their ringleader, Reign (Odette Annable), who, by the end of the hour, remained very much at large.

Next week, in an effort to rid Sam of the last bit of her humanity, Reign will hunt down Ruby (Emma Tremblay), but luckily, the youngster will have both the Girl of Steel and Alex (Chyler Leigh) to watch her back. Meanwhile, Kara and J'onn (David Harewood) will also pay a visit to Sam's adoptive mother (Betty Buckley) to find a way to stop her alien daughter while James (Mehcad Brooks) will deal with the fallout of learning Lena's (Katie McGratch) dark secret.

Watch the new promo for episode eighteen, titled "Shelter From the Storm," below:

"Shelter From the Storm" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, V) (HDTV)

REIGN SETS HER SIGHTS ON RUBY - When Reign (Odette Annable) starts hunting Ruby (guest star Emma Tremblay), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Alex (Chyler Leigh) work together to keep her safe. Supergirl and J'onn (David Harewood) look to Sam's mother (guest star Betty Buckley) for advice on how to stop Reign and come away with some shocking news. Antonio Negret directed the episode with story by Robert Rovner and teleplay by Lindsay Gelfand & Allison Weintraub (#318). Original airdate 5/14/2018.

It was an okay episode, plagued with the usual negative aspects of the show. Ridiculous drama, once again making Kara look like an utter fool and jerk (I mean seriously, the way she [and Alex] were treating Lena, especially when there were other priorities, was stupid), and fight choreography that could have used an extreme upgrade.

I am glad that James and Lena are good, for now; I wouldn't want Kara's ridiculous intentions to come between them.

There were some good moments from the fight at the end, even with some stupid moments and bad choreography. One of the best moments of the episode was Purity turning and then pulling a Black Siren on Pestilence.

@HeavyMetal4Life - LOL! Of course there is going to be that silly drama, it is the CW!

Anyways I still enjoy the show for what it is.

@JoeMomma29 - there's a difference between drama, and then ridiculous, unneeded drama. Supergirl typically loves to paint an unlikable picture of Kara. That needs to stop, because its a major detriment to the show.

I really enjoyed season 2, but this season (while starting out great) has been quite disappointing this year.

@HeavyMetal4Life - You have to keep in mind this show is geared towards young girls.......young girls (not all) can relate to this type of drama.

Not making excuses for silly drama, but that is what you have to expect from the CW.

Just like I know what to expect when I watch drama shows on HBO.

@Arrowverse27 - perhaps we will get an updated version of the Lexo Suit...

@JoeMomma29 - fair enough... But, I do think its possible to create a show that both appeals to young girls while also providing something satisfying for people that are not young girls. Other shows have done this, its not impossible.

Good episode that focused on the plot. Making us care about the human vessels in Julia and Samantha worked, their scenes were very emotional specially once Samantha began to also to forget about what grounded her and desperately began to write her daughter's name in the valley mind dimension.

Kara's never liked that her close ones keep secrets from her specially involving being in posession of things that have the potential to kill her. Itslike being lactose intolerant or diabetic and one of your best friends has nothing but sugar for food in their house. But I also got Lena's reason, each one was on their role this time.

I liked how Jimmy decided to trust her and didn't enter the vault, in the end he still got to find the truth by being honest with her. So I don't think we'll see surprises from whatever she has in it. But if she made synthetic kryptonite then something must happen with it for the sake of the plot, Maxwell did one too in S1 and we got the red one that turned Kara into a very uninhibited and cruel version of her.

Liked the humor with Alex poking Lena to prove they could get hurt, seems she is afraid of ghosts.

That part with Samantha switching with Reign was good but also tense when they were alone against her in the mind valley.

Winn is the man with the new DEO gear for Alex, I wonder how the magnetism will play down the road for her suit. Making Kara's suit, fixing Mon-El's and now this. The red sun gun is cool too.

My only complain is that they favoured Lena here to make her be able to command the ship back whereas Brainiac-5 couldn't, they've been giving him the short end of the stick for a while but when it was with Winn it was for some reason more believable and charming. I think they need to portray him more wise and let it shine more even if it makes my fave Winn look a bit behind. So that's my issue with the ep this week.

Worldkiller vs Worldkiller is super effective. Two down and just one to go with Reign but now it'll be more difficult. She's not as versatile overpowered like The Thinker but its gonna be troublesome to beat her now.

I'm starting to feel like Kara has moved on from Mon-El but he's still hunged up.

Next week looks good as Reign gives them no break and judging by the pics, it seems she did not land by accident near that woman.

tonights episode was pretty good it wasn't too melodramatic (had its moments but not as bad as previous couple of episodes) and focused on the actual plot which would be great if they continue to do this

Pretty strong episode. The final fight scene was pretty epic.
So Lena is "making kryptonite"? That sounds like a pretty big deal going on.
